“Ideal 3 star, Great Location”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

If you looking for a short break in Amsterdam this little Hotel is ideal. With the park right next door its great for taking a cycle round. Little tip stick to the park, its not like cycling back home. Hotel is very small but very well kept, what you would expect of a 3 star.

The best thing about the Vossius is its location: smack outside the Vondelpark and across the street from the Leidseplein. The rooms are tiny - we couldn't even open the bathroom door completely. But everything is clean and in working order, it all looks freshly renovated. The breakfast buffet is also small but with plenty of options.
For a short stay, the Vossius provides a pleasant stay for a pleasant price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back. On the front it will undoubtedly be more difficult to shut out the noise...

I've stayed in Hotel Vossius for 4 days, in a room located in the backyard, which weren't very sound proof and we could hear the rooms at our side. Even though the rooms were tiny ( the bathroom had a sink that was the smallest I ever seen), they were good, clean, with good conditions, had good decorations and very warm (which is a very good thing in December in Amsterdam!). The people working in the hotel are very friendly and you have a series of discounts avaliable in the reception to restaurants, bike rental, drinks in clubs, etc. Its location is the best: next to the Vondelpark and the always animated square of Leidsplein. You can walk everywere in Amsterdam so from were to the to Central Station is only 20 min by foot.

We stayed at the Vossius for 2nights in mid November. We wanted to see the sights, museums etc, and to attend a concert at The Paradiso on the Sunday night. The hotel was perfect for what we had planned, boat trip, Van Gogh museum, and the Paradiso, all just a couple of minutes walk away. It really could not have been better with regard to location. We stayed in one of the chalet rooms in the garden, it was quite small, and the bathroom was minute....you could have a shower, clean your teeth, shave, and use the toilet at the same time, which I guess maybe a plus point to some people, but if you are a larger person, or have restricted movement, the bathroom could be a problem. Apart from that it was fine and I would recommend it to anyone small enough to use the toilet !!

The best thing about this hotel is its location: literally next to the wonderful Vondelpark and a 5 minute walk from Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum.
On the down side: they practically do not have a breakfast room, only an improvised space with a few tables and very uncomfortable chairs. The breakfast is mediocre, not much to choose from.
The room was not in the hotel building, but in a cabin built in the courtyard of the hotel, which was very strange. To reach to the cabins one must pass through the mentioned breakfast room and then step outside, in the courtyard. Nonetheless, the room was very clean (although a little bit dark), the bed extremely comfortable, but the bathroom was the smallest I've ever been to (the width of the sink was equal to the palm of my hand).

Our first visit to Amsterdam last week (Nov. 2013). Stayed 3 nights and were very happy in a standard twin room on the ground floor overlooking the back yard, which meant we could access outdoors had we wanted. Yes, rooms are small and bathrooms compact but we were not here to spend time in the hotel. And being able to brush ones teeth whilst sitting on the loo seems to me to be a great advantage! The room was spotless, nicely designed and decorated, warm with very comforable beds (which we could push together at will). Great location, quiet and right next to Vondelpark which would be a real bonus in decent weather. Breakfast was excellent, wide choice of cereals, fresh fruit, juice, scrambled egg, croissants etc. They also stored our bags safely on the last day as the flight was late evening. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here for four nights in early October. We booked one of the smallest available rooms and it was fine. Very comfortable. The hotel is well located not only to the museum quarter, but to a myriad of eating/drinking/entertainment possibilities and access to public transport and canal tours. We were very pleased not to have stayed closer to the centre of the city, which was easy to access anyway.

Room Tip: A small room is fine for a couple if you are not carrying piles and piles of luggage.
