“Limited choice, but excellent Tapas and Fondue”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

We stumbled upon this place while strolling around the leidseplein area of Amsterdam - and were pleasantly surprised. The menu is a little limited - you can get tapas and fondue, but not a whole lot else, but the food was excellent. The fondue is really good value - I've paid much more for worse quality fondue in the past. The staff were friendly and generous with the bread - and picking up the Tapas of your choice as a fondue dipper can lead to some great flavors. Be aware of the limited choice - but if you like the sound of a couple of tapas dishes followed by fondue - make a beeline for this place!

“Pleasant place to take wine and food in centre of Amsterdam”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

A large list of good wines to be ordered by the glass, an even larger list of tapas and cheese fondue as a complete meal all add to a special experience at the end of a long day in busy Amsterdam. The home made tapas are good, the fondue can be obtained in three varieties (truffeled is advisable) and the wines are well chosen, selected from all over the world. We had a very agreeable fresh Austrian Veltliner. You can either sit inside on dark brown Dutch cafe tables or outside overlookimg the canal. For something quite different.

“Real Amsterdam?”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Tucked away just a couple of minutes walk from the tourist centre of the Leidseplein this is, perhaps, one of the few places left in Amsterdam that really has the atmosphere of an original Dutch cafe/bar.

This is one of the places I really miss since I left the Netherlands - always has a great wine list and does a lovely cheese fondue. I always try and get here when I get back over to Amsterdam.

“Lovely, cozy, lots of wine!”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Great choice for a wine and bite (tapas style), lots of choices in both wines and bites (and not too expensive either!). If you get overwhelmed by the choices, don't hesitate to ask for the expertese of the bartender. They have about 50 wines, a couple of temporary selections andf they change the regulare winelist 2 or 3 times a year.

It can get crowded, but if you arrive for a drink before dinner, you will have no problem.
The part at the bar isn't too big, but the restaurant-part is good in size. It has a dark brown cafe vibe going on, with a touch of French Bistro.

If you want to enjoy the atmosphere a bit longer: go for a romantic Cheese fondue. Love the fondue with wild mushrooms and white port or fondue with truffle... OMG! (b.t.w: the Dutch crown prince and his wife had the cheese fondue here as well, so you are in good company!) Of course also accompanied with a nice sturdy red wine. Relax and enjoy!
