My boyfriend and I stayed at Tulip of Amsterdam for two nights at the beginning of February this year. We decided we were going to make this trip at the beginning of December and I was price checking hotels everyday for nearly two months. Eventually, my boyfriend stumbled across this B&B on Trivago.com and the price seemed really reasonable compared to all of the hotels in the local area. After reading the fantastic reviews on Tripadvisor we were really excited to book and stay here!
My boyfriend is a cat allergy sufferer, but after liaising with the owners Chris and David over email, they assured us that we would be placed into a room with a separate entrance that the resident cat, Loytje, cannot get access too. There were many several helpful emails from them before we had even traveled to Amsterdam, the service from them is first class.
When we arrived in Amsterdam we decided to get a taxi from Schipol Airport to Tulip of Amsterdam, this cost around 50 euros. When we left to go home, we decided to walk to Central station and get the train which cost around 9 euros for the two of us, the journey was just as quick and straightforward, we will definitely be getting the train both ways next time!
Nikki was our host for the duration of our stay, she was extremely helpful and had lots of useful information. One thing I will mention is that the plug sockets here are not the same as English sockets, I do not know why I didn't think to pack a plug adapter, unfortunately my boyfriend's Iphone ran out of battery and Nikki lent us her spare phone charger overnight...what a saint!
The location of this B&B is perfect, it is close to the Red Light District, Dam Square, Central Station, coffeeshops, and also 20-30 minute walk to the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, with many designer, high street and tourist shops to browse between each of these locations. Being a couple in our 20's, we were looking for good food and places to drink and dance each night, the best place for this we found was Leidseplein square, which is about a 20 minute walk from Tulip of Amsterdam. I do not often visit places that I have already been to as I enjoy seeing new sites and countries, however we absolutely cannot wait to get back to Amsterdam and stay at this wonderful home away from home! 5 star from us!!
