I booked three nights here and checked out after the first night, my room was on the basement and next to a cleaners cupboard, so staff were constantly going up and down stairs giving no thought to anyone trying to sleep, I asked to change rooms but it was at an extra cost and because I didn't like the place or the feel I decided to check out and stay elsewhere.
Location was brilliant and right in the heart of one of Amsterdams busiest streets, plenty of places to eat and close enough to walk from CS or a tram stop in the Damrak.

Room Tip: Avoid basement room, it seems nice with being at canal level but can be noisy because of the cleanin...

omg what can I say there were 10 of us staying here we booked 2 triple rooms and 2 twin rooms for a 40th birthday trip. When we arrived Anna greeted us with a smile and was really friendly she checked us in quickly all the rooms were very clean with clean towels every day 2 rooms had the canal view these room are the quieter ones the other 2 faced the road these were noisy as you could here everyone coming past so dont stay here if you want early nights lol
the hotel is central for all the amenities so if your sightseeing this is a great location, the food here is great too the bar does not close till 3am :)
we were quite shocked when we arrived and saw the rooms after the negative comments about small rooms etc we could find no fault the stairs are steep in Holland everywhere so be warned
would stay here again loved the stay they made all my group feel so welcome so thank you xx

Room Tip: the canal view rooms are quieter it is very noisy street

Just returned from girls weekend aged 20 - 65 at this hotel. Great location only 5 minutes walk from Central train station, cafes, bars & eateries all around the hotel, very short walk to red light district. Rooms were very clean, had everything you'd need for a short break. We had rm 40, top floor overlooking canal, great view to wake up to. Staff were amazing, couldn't have been more friendly or helpful, special thanks to Robert & Angie for the late night cups of tea lol. If you're looking for luxury then this won't be for you but if you want a clean, basic hotel with good food & great staff in a city center location its ideal.

I stayed with a group of 7 ladies aged 40/50/60s. Firstly the positives, The location is perfect for everything. The station is 2 mins walk, handy for dam square, river cruises and all attractions. Loads of bars, cafes and restaurants right outside the hotel. Also the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and if it wasnt for the state of the rooms the stay would have been perfect. We had booked 2 twins and 1 triple room. All 3 rooms were extremely small and frankly very shabby. Beds and bathrooms did look clean but in the twin room the beds were camp beds and in the 3rd room there were 4 beds one of which was broken in the middle. We re-positioned one of the beds so that we could manage to move around and under the bed was a spent tab end. The whole fabric of the rooms was extremely poor and basic. The whole building continually stank of cannibis. The staff did try to help by offering alternative rooms in the building opposite but although bigger was a shared bathroom and no lift , we had chosen this hotel for the lift which we needed knowing that staircases are very steep in Amsterdam. All the rooms were lacking in facilities of somewhere to put your belongings we had to keep our things in our cases. The wardrobes were only 18inch wide and we had 7 hangers for 3 people. . There wasn't a shelf anywhere only one mirror located in the bathroom, not ideal for 3 ladies. Although reasonably priced I feel that basic requirements were missing. The accommodation resembled a hostel rather than a hotel. YThank you to the staff for their effors but I would not stay here again unless it does have a complete renovation which they claim it will be done next year.

Pictures online are completely different from reality, smelly disgusting. Toilet and shower are together without any separation, room is so tiny with two single beds, carpet smells of cigarette and the walls are very dirty. Honestly we felt we were in prison.
My friend and I were very disappointed of everything.
We would never go back there.

I have recently stayed here with a group of friends. There was some apprehension from the other girls with regards to previous reviews but i was more than happy to give it a go. There was some mix up with our rooms when we arrived but Robert was brilliant, he managed to sort it out for us in a very friendly and professional manner The bar is lovely, very relaxing and friendly. Breakfast is ideal, omelette, toast and as much tea and coffee as you can manage. The rooms are basic but contain all that you need, clean sheets and towels with hot water. I would definately stay here again and the group that I stayed with have all agreed. The bar has this wonderful cosiness about it, and you are right in the middle of everything- only 5 minutes walk from Central Station.

Room Tip: We stayed at the back of the hotel which is probably quiter.
