I am very happy with the White Tulip hostel

Pros:

- it's affordable!! Staying for 4 days/3 nights costed me little over 100 euros, excellent value for money
- central location, you can go out the door, and literally hold your breath until you reach the first prostitute in the Red Light district
- is clean, the cleaning is done on a daily basis, not surgery room clean, but still ok, bathroom was clean and had toilet paper
- every bed in the 14 bed room had it's own storage box. Because I travel light, my back pack could fit twice in the storage box. Size is decent. Also for phone charging, I had an electrical socket right near my bed #9
- you get a bracelet similar to a concert one which you have to present at the entrance so that people not being hosted here shall not enter. The bracelet, along with the key to the storage box, and a card to enter the room is all you need, and seems very organized
- you get a discount at the Irish pub on ground floor, but I haven't been there.

Con:

- it's noisy, you can hear the church bells ringing but I kinda like the bells, what I didn't like was the endless chit-chat going on outside, and sometimes inside. So, my advice for you is to take your drugs, drink your alcohol, visit your prostitutes, and eat your vegetables so you will be happily asleep without minding the chit chat.
- the spacing on the top level bed is kinda small, but still ok
- check out is early. I was waken up at 10 am, to be told that I have to check out

Conclusion:

A perfect location if you plan having fun in Amsterdam, don't have too much money, and just need a place to crash. It has perfectly balanced the value for money. If you think otherwise, then stop being cheap and go to your fancy hotel and pay them for 1 night the amount what you would pay The White Tulip for 4 days.

Room Tip: Don't be picky, remember you only want a place to crash.

The White Tulip has an unbeatable location, and it's easy to meet fellow travellers.
Beds were clean and ready upon arrival.
A little bit noisy and washrooms were stuffy.
However the price was reasonable for Amsterdam during peak season.
Overall a good stay if you want an affordable short stay.

The hostel was a but tired, in need of repainting. The walls were just grubby and that did let it down.
However we has a great stay. It's right in the red light district with everything you could want only meters away.
This is not a hostel for light sleepers. The street is a busy street with lots of nightlife, and early risers too.
There was very friendly staff, and bath towels available.
Having no large common area was the only let down. But the rooms were sizeable and good enough to socialise with roommates.

Good atmosphere with friendly staff, centrally located and each bed is equipped with a Powerpoint which is handy! The location was a bit too much for us... Being situated at the beginning of the Red Light District meant there was constantly loud music, yelling and screaming which resulted in little sleep... Good for a short stay but not for a longer period of time, mainly due to the noise (we were all for partying, but we also love sleep...) and the incredibly poor/tiny bathroom facilities. Rooms were also pretty cramped and not always that clean...

We arrived late to Amsterdam, and White Tulip was the only place with availability.
We checked into our dorm room, set out bags down, and ran out to get a bite to eat. We came back to the room about 2 hours later, and found that rats had chewed through our luggage to get at a pack of crackers one of the bags.
The walls are plain drywall, not even painted. The floors are unfinished as well. The halls are labyrinthine, and getting to the disgusting bathrooms is a hassle.
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Hopefully the business will close soon, as the building itself should be condemned, demolished, and rebuilt from scratch.

Stayed here for 3 nights with friends (7 males). Hostel is very cramped and untidy and there are just enough toilets to serve those in need. The church next door starts ringing its bells at 8am and does not really help if you want to sleep in. My guess is that you can probably do better with the same money, even in Amsterdam. Friendly service and that unbeatably sleazy party hostel atmosphere is however "nice". The bar downstairs is also de decent as long as there is not a crowd of noisy Englishmen.

I was recomended The White Tulip by a friend of mine and thank god he did. It was perfect. The location was fantastic and the staff there were so friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 8 person room. The room was clean and tidy. The bunkbeds were very comfy and the sleep that I go from the trip was good ;)
The hostel is located right i nthe heart of the red light district so that was an experience. It's smack bang in the middle of the life os Amsterdam. Right in the heart of all the "coffe shops"!

All I'd say is dont get high off your face then try and walk up the stairs....it was a struggle for us haha

A great hostel that I would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Make sure you've got a solid group so you know how many people are going and try and make it an...
