Located just off Dam Sq this is a budget hotel that offers a great location combined with good price. I travelled with 5 other friends and booked 3 twin rooms which were all small, but clean and sufficient for our needs. Breakfast was good and staff helpful. Only down side is the noise at night, as it is a busy location, however, all rooms had double glazing to reduce noise. I would stay again and recommend.

Me and my girlfriend stayed in the Doria from Thursday 3rd May 2012 - Monday 7th of May 2012. We had been told Amsterdam is expensive to stay in, on power with the likes of London. We decided to go for this hotel due to its reasonable price, and great central location.

The staff where very helpful, showing us places to go on the map and reminding us of restaurants which offered discount to residents of Doria. The room was very clean, and due to the fact we where at the back of the hotel we had no issues with noise.

You are allowed to smoke in the room, thought me and my girlfriend dont smoke, we didnt notice any yellow ceilings or stale smoke smells, It looked like the room had recently had a lick of paint which was good.

The bathroom as spacious as we needed, with towells provided and the room cleaned every day, we where happy with the bathroom as it met our needs. The room wasnt very spacious, but we werent expecting it to be. We had ample space for clothes in the wardrobe, with 6 hangers available. There was a brand new TV, which obviously we didnt use often with being in Amsterdam, but it was a good option.

The hotel itself is based on the Damstraat, five minutes from the red light district, and two minutes from Dam Square. One bit of advice for this drinking would be to stay clear of Dam Square, the prices are a bit of a tourist trap, if you want a drink, go to Red Light District, it was a cheaper round and suitable for all groups, couples etc.

The breakfast was very basic, but was a great option. It offered all your standard continental options, like toast, cereal, cheeses and even boiled eggs. Tea, coffee, water and orange juice where also available. Like i say basic, but couldnt fault it.

Ignore any negative reviews, this hotel is what it is, and if you are looking a budget hotel (by amsterdams standards) for somewhere to lay your head at night, then in my opinion, you will struggle to find better.

Free wifi also....

Room Tip: Back of the hotel was quieter...

Stayed here for 2 nights & thought the hotel was clean, warm & comfortable :) Breakfast was good & helps set you up for the day.

My only fault which was nothing major & didn't spoil our trip in anyway was the lack of storage space for clothes in the room, it was very poor but apart from that we was very happy with this hotel.

I will use this hotel again in the future
