Newly renovated , charming with an excellent location. Friendly and helpful staff. If you are tired of big hotels , and looking for something with a "soul" - this hotel is perfect.
Very nice and clean rooms .

Some noise from bars and discotheques in the summer when doors and windows are kept open. But that's what you have to expect living in the middle of everything.

We stayed here the first week of January 2012. Amsterdam was very cold but the weather held out for us and we had a great time. This hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to trams (which will take you just about anywhere in the city), red light, great area for walking and exploring. The hotel is a few hundred years old so don't expect much in the way of modern amenities. We stayed on the first floor is a large room behind the desk. Upon our arrival, the first two hours the staff was working in our room (electrical utility closet) due to a power/internet outage. The room was located next to a very loud apartment complex. Loud drunks kept us up most of the night. This all aside the location was fantastic. We walked all over this fantastic city.

Room Tip: Not sure how to advise. Ask specifically for the quietest room. Bring earplugs.

we stayed in early July and the room was too small for us. The room was towards the back of the building and towards the courtyard of 2 pubs which were too noisy for us. The room was stuffy and we could not get any air flow. We definitely would have enjoyed our stay if we faced the river.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the river -- the view would have been a bonus. opening the windows to allow more air into the room, also a bonus

Thank you so much for your feedback, we are sorry to hear your room was to small, specially as most of our rooms are larger than the everage rooms size in Amsterdam. All windows can be opened in the hotel, but this will cost extra street noice entering the room due to the absolute central location. Having a room facing the canal is also our recomondation, but has to be reserved long time in advance ( its a special roomtype) as they are very popular due to its the best view in Amsterdam!
We hope to welcome you again in the future, so you can experience the Canal View Suite,

Made a quick trip to Amsterdam to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was her first time, which left little room for error. After narrowing the decision down to Hotel Amstelzicht and reviewing the comments here on tripadvisor -- we booked it! We were quite pleased with the location, the staff and the ambiance of this quaint little hotel. We booked a quadroom for three people and found it to be absolutely delightful, with more space than we could have hoped for! Overall, an extremely good value and worth every penny!

P.S. We found the free wi-fi to be in great working order throughout the property . . . even in our room!!
