Stayed here for two nights, 18th and 19th october 2012 finding that most of what has been said on tripadvisor to be true.
The Hotel is in a great location for all the places we wanted to visit, just a great shame that the owners of the Hotel have allowed the place to become so run down. OK we did get a good deal on the price from lastminute.com (£163 for two people for two nights) but even at that price there should be some profit left for re-investment,if we had paid more it would be a different story.
We booked a standard double and got a free upgrade for one night(with a bit of a struggle) to a de-luxe as they had no standard rooms available. this sounds ok but having to check out by 11am and then not able to check back in till 2pm was a pain.
First night we stayed in room 9(De-Luxe) overlooking the square which was ok, the music and noise not a bother for us, infact we liked it.The second night we stayed in room 25(standard) up another flight of stairs, which was alot smaller than room 9 and had no view at all.(think Anne Frank) Apart from the room size and TV sizes(20" flat to a 9" portable) we could'nt tell the difference in the grading,i mean who goes to Amsterdam to watch telly anyway. Both rooms reasonably clean but in need of a good makeover.Strip them back to basics (Traveloge style) so much easier to maintain and forget the dodgy jaccuzzi's.Maybe this level of standards are acceptable to the laid back Dutch but we English expect alot better.
The best asset this Hotel has is it's friendly and helpful staff, especially Helen. the morning receptionist.
All said, had a great time in Amsterdam and would consider this Hotel again if only for the location and feel sure that this Hotel will just carry on in the same way whilst there are so many visitors wanting to come to this great city.(succeeding by default)

Room Tip: rooms with best views all face onto the noisy square which for us was great, if you want quiet night...

I had a single deluxe room. Deluxe means that you have your own bathroom (with a jacuzzi: an ugly bathtub that can make bubbles – not too inviting). The room looks quite cozy, the personal is friendly and the location perfect for nightlife and such. I've chosen the hotel because it's located very close to a conference I've visited, photos looked nice, free wifi and an acceptable price.

Now after my visit I don't think anymore that the price is acceptable: 360 euro for 3 nights in a single room that's noisy as hell, not too clean and just doesn't make you feel like you'd wanna stay any longer, that's not worth that money.

I've added some pictures about cleanliness (it's just ok if you don't have too high standards though, but the shaved hair on the wall wasn't a nice detail). I've complained about the noise about 2 secs after entering the room, but they told me that it's the only single deluxe they have: You have a view on the Rembrandt Plein and boy, it's full of music and drunk people until 2am. And the windows don't help much.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that heads to the Rembrandt Place.

I booked this for my boyfriends 21st, we loved this hotel, close to everything, tram stops right outside for transport back to the airport so no stress on the last day :) & the staff were all lovely & helpfull. Were going back at the end of the year & have booked to stay here again. Nice price's too. And the view from our room at the front of the hotel was immense! Cant wait to go back!

If you are looking for a simple room when visiting Amsterdam for a night out, then this is a nice place. It's quiet and most important clean.

Tram is nearby which makes it easy to travel to the city centre.

Nothing really impressing.... Except the stairs that at first sight looks impossible to climb.. Especially with your luggage... The steps are extremely short in order to Fit the small spaces. Rooms are small but the strategic position is compensating this disadvantage. Breakfast is very limited and not included in the price, so if you dont like you can go out and ave it somewhere else. Price is a bit high but Amsterdam is not really a cheap place...

We bought a twin deluxe room.
Rembrandtplein is a great location and this is a great, simple, clean, no frills hotel. Free wifi is great, staff are helpful and gave directions to various places. We had a room overlooking the square which was amazing, but a little bit noisy at night as there are bars and clubs etc around. Not noisy enough to be a problem for us though, we were late in most nights anyway!

Room Tip: Ask for a room which doesn't face the square for less noise from bars. Deluxe size beds are defi...

The hotel is in one of those typical Amsterdam town properties with steep staircases and small compact rooms, but it was perfectly adequate for my purposes. The staff were very friendly and flexible (especially the delightful Irish girl who booked me in) and the room I upgraded to from my original booking was clean and well presented with a TV and mini bar. The location, Rembrandtplein, is a busy thoroughfare and renowned area for bars and restaurants, hence there is indeed quite a bit of noise at night well into the early hours. But since anyone choosing to visit Amsterdam and stay in a three star hotel with a bit of character is usually there to partake in some form of Babylonian excess (rather than to pray and meditate like a Trappist monk all night), this should not be considered a drawback. When you've spent a long evening quaffing Heineken, Amstel and other assorted beverages in various dens of iniquity along the canals to the immediate north of this area getting a few hours sleep is neither an issue nor a problem.

Room Tip: Check with the desk clerk. There may be some flexibility if the hotel is underbooked.
