The location is very good in nice district (Jordaan), staff is friendly and helpful. Free wireless and walking distance (15 minutes) from central station. Fare is cheap, as compared to the Amsterdam standard (room with private facilities for 45 euro). Breakfast was ok.
However, the room was very dirty, especially the floor. I've found hair on the washbasin and there is no curtain in the shower, is it so expensive to buy one? They also gave me just one bath towel. Bed is not confortable, too short, and room noisy (from outside).
To sum up, a cheap and central option, but I would not recommend to stay there for more than one night.

Great location....near lots of transportation connections(streetcar, Metro, canal stop)....but we found we walked most places. Great breakfast and very fast service. A no-nonsense place that fits the bill for price and convenience. Rooms very very small. No tub in bathroom. Stairs almost impossible to get your suitcases up. Front of hotel extremely noisey...quiet street....but if anyone or the birds out front made any noise....you hear it all. But it was so much fun looking out at the canal and watching the action including the noisey birds. For it's uniqueness, the price, and location---we would stay there again.

I stayed this past June for 5 nights and I loved the location and the canal in front of the hotel. The 45 euro rate is also unbeatable in super expensive Amsterdam. What I didn't like was the small confining space of my single room. It felt like a prison cell. And the bed--actually a cot--was extremely uncomfortable. I tossed & turned (& nearly fell off)
most nights.

My wife and I stayed at the Van Onna hotel for two nights in July, as part of a honeymoon trip. I agree with the other posts that describe the hotel as sparse, but comfortable with a nice and helpful staff. The location was great for us, being on the Bloemgracht canal and a nice walk to many of the musems, and sights we wanted to visit.

It was really quiet, too - one of the two nights we stayed was the one where Holland beat Uganda for a place in the World Cup finals - as we walked home from bar we watched the game, the city exploded after the game with honking, fireworks and a whole lot of Dutch hooting and hollering. At the hotel, though, all was quiet and we were not disturbed by the noise at all.

This was my first trip to Amsterdam and this is where I'll be staying for my next trip. Great location in the Jordaan. Quiet non-commercial street on a canal but close to everything. Friendly and accommodating staff. Reasonable price that includes breakfast brunch.

Room are spartan so don't expect a queen size bed with a thick mattress but still comfortable enough for 5 nights. Stairs are typical for most older buildings in Amsterdam. Very steep and narrow. Ask for a ground floor room if you don't want to deal with them.

All in all a great place to stay in Amsterdam.

The pictures and descriptions give a good image of what you can expect. No luxery, but a simple room with a simple bathroom. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is ok. The spot is one of the best of Amsterdam. Not noisy. Only disadvantage is that the beds are old and rather firm. If you are 30 years old or younger, it is fine. If you stay one night, it is acceptable. If you can put two matrasses on each other, it is ok, but if your body is a little older, it is tough to sleep well.

If you want 5 Star then do not stay here. If you want value for your money and a quiet hotel away from the Red Light district then this is a great choice. The staff is friendly and very helpful in planning your visit. The location is 5 minutes from the Anne Frank House and other interesting sites. Being Amsterdam there are more restaurants and bars within a few minutes of your door than we could even visit during our short stay. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are small and the bathrooms are basic but we did not go to Amsterdam to stay in the hotel so it met our needs. My brother and I stay here whenever we are in the city and will again in the near future. Cheers!
