Wow! The most fascinating museum we saw in Amsterdam. The museum takes you through the journeys of the country, its towns, and the individuals involved. We spent several hours walking through the museum captivated. The audio tour was excellent. Make sure to read all the extra bits throughout the museum - they tell unforgettable stories of individual efforts during the war. If you go to one museum in Amsterdam, let it be this one.

Very well organized and kept up museum.

Audio is a available in English as well as half of the signs.

Netherlands history during WWII, amazing and sad. The temporary exhibit, the children at The children's camp was touching and a historical account.

Overall it was a historical find, but a bit over whelming.
Kids may get bored, there is many signs to read.

A very interesting museum which explores the reality of military occupation. Visited with children 7 and 9 years old. Junior part of museum is aimed at children and brilliantly presents life in a Nazi control land country. Highly recommended to visit but do accept the offer of the audio guides as the junior museum is not labelled in English (note to museum - you should fix this omission for the benefit of foreign visitors who otherwise may miss out on the experience). Apart from the labelling this is a five star attraction.

The Verzetsmuseum or Dutch Resistance museum should not be overshadowed by the other great museums Amsterdam has to offer. During the long German occupation of the Netherlands, each person had to choose how to react to the actions of the occupying force. This museum does an excellent job showing the visitor the decisions the Dutch faced as they watched the fate of their Jewish and other neighbors. Excellent explanations in English but pick up the free audio pod catcher at the desk for more background. Well suited for children as well. The museum is across the street from the Amsterdam Zoo and may be difficult to locate. Plan for a 2 hr visit. Your ticket gives a 2 for 1 coffee at the local coffeehouse.

Despite the driving rain we walked to this site, I'm glad we did! Thought provoking especially as to what the word resistance means! If you visit please allow yourself time to take it all in. The question we asked all the way back to our hotel was - what would we have done! A sobering and thought provoking museum. On a practical note the signage outside is smallish so be aware its across the road from Amsterdam Zoo.
