A previous reviewer complained that nothing was in english. After having visited the museum, I can't help wondering if they went to a different place! Absolutely EVERYTHING is clearly outlined in both Dutch and English. For other languages you are given free audio equipment.

This museum took you on a journey through the war years from the perspective of the average dutch citizen. It was about much more than the resistance, it was about how the Netherlands coped with Nazi occupation. Admirably, it did not shy away from detailing the less heroic aspects either, explaining about collaborators and even the dutch peoples less than admirable actions as Colonial occupiers in the East Indies.

If you have time to do more than the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum this is definiately worth putting on your list.

Just get a tram or bus to the zoo and it is on the opposite side of the road to the main entrance.

“Well worth visiting”
Reviewed February 5, 2014

This was very well laid out, informative and engaging. The English text and audio guides were very clear. Well worth a visit for a good understanding of how the war affected Dutch lives.
The cafe next door looks promising, but service was really slow and we were overcharged! I did query the bill and get a refund. Unfortunately this meant we didn't have time to go back and see the children's part of the museum which had looked interesting.

“Interesting but layout was confusing.”
Reviewed February 5, 2014

The Verzetsmuseum went all out with the technology--there is a very good free audio guide and many of the exhibits are interactive. However, there was no clear guide as to which exhibits to follow, and I ended up seeing a lot of them out of chronological order, which was very confusing. Overall, a good visit. “Very nice museum”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

Just like most of the museums in Amsterdam this one is top notch. Everything is in English and Dutch so you can enjoy all of the exhibits. The tour begins with a short film that asks the question "would you collaborate, adjust or resist" the germans. The exhibits give a good account from beginning of the german occupation to the liberation by the Allies. Well worth the modest entry fee.
