“Brilliant base for sight seeing”

Easily reach of sight seeing canal trip, restaurants and bars. Comfortable and clean with everything we needed. 20 min walk to Sam square and red light district. Quiet location. Apparently there was a breakfast but didn't try it

When my friends were delayed by a day due to a bomb scare at an airport, I immediately called the hotel to see if I could make any adjustments to the 4 person room. I said I would be happy to pay more and stay in a single that night and add 2, 2 person rooms for the following night (that were available) and even pay more for an early check in (or any other option available). The staff were unbelievably RUDE and at check in, when the manager was contacted, he also blatantly refused to make any adjustments at all! When asked whether problems of this kind were common, the staff at check in said without hesitation, YES! I would only recommend that this hotel be dropped from booking.com.

We stayed here for one night and loved it. Close to restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping. Also very close to canals and museums. It was a short walk from the tram stop as well. The only drawback was that there was no elevator to the floor in the wing where we stayed and the stairs were a little sleep, but the room was nice and quiet and newly renovated. Ours even had a small balcony. Definitely would recommend to friends family.

This hotel looks just like every other old building from the outside, but inside it has been totally refurbished and modernised. It gets its name due to the fact that every room has a different enlarged picture of a horse on the wall, which I found quirky and interesting.

Our room was huge, with plenty of walking space and storage space. There was no window, but we had a skylight with a cover that we could open and close. Our airconditioning didn't seem to be working very well, or perhaps wasn't working at all. We did bring this to the attention of the front desk, but they seemed to think we didn't know how to turn it on properly (which I can assure you that we did, but it still didn't work). It wasn't too hot though, so we sufficed.

The bathroom is very modern too, and has the best shower I have ever seen in my whole life! I'd describe it as a party shower - you could comfortably fit four or more people in there with space to spare. Or, as I did, just hog the whole thing to yourself and enjoy not hitting your elbows on all four walls :)

Staff were very friendly and polite, and are particularly helpful if you have questions about sights and directions. Although the hotel is located just outside of the true city centre, if you don't mind walking it's not too far (30-40 minutes) or there are trams very close by. It is also closer to some other great places, like Boom Chicago, Hard Rock Cafe, Heineken Experience and more.

Room Tip: Don't bother with the hotel's buffet breakfast... take a five-minute walk and in the middle...

We with my wife have booked this hotel using relations "price/location/responses".
Kind personnel, renovated rooms, good place near Laidsplane.

It is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. A major problem is sealed windows. The air in the rooms is fuggy. The air conditioning system, as they name it, is ineffective and annoying and doesn’t seem to be a real air conditioning. The rooms are small with minimal comfort. There is ongoing construction in the hotel. No elevator but it seems to be very common for Amsterdam. Another major issue is no any type of security at all. Anybody can enter and exit hotel with nobody notice. A front desk is located in a separate room outside of the view point of the main entrance. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for more or less comfort and relaxing space. Front desk help depends on person on duty. Either you'll get real help, or you speak to dummy.
