“Great location and value”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

This little hotel is centrally located and an easy walk or trolley ride to all major sites in the heart of Amsterdam. Although the rooms are small and the bathroom is tiny, they are clean, well-kept and have all the necessities. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the dining area is good for inexpensive snacks and drinks. There is no elevator and the steps leading up to the rooms are steep and narrow, so it is not a hotel for the elderly or anyone having difficulty climbing, but for the young at heart, the value and location can't be beat. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

This hotel is located in a great area. Close to museums, shops, restaurants. The room was smallish, but a great value, compared with other hotels I saw. The staff is terrific, and there is a nice little dining room, where you can get snack, drinks, that are very reasonably priced. if you stay on a higher floor, there are only stairs, which are steep. Free wireless, and incredibly reasonable international long distance. We will for sure stay here again.

The location is excellent, with trams direcþto the train station, close to Leidseplein and to the main art museums. The hotel is super-clean. The decor is simple but it's got everything you need: a very comfortable bed, plenty of space, an en suite bathroom with a good shower; also a flat-screen TV, hairdryer, room safe. The breakfast is excellent and is included in the overnight price. The staff are all terrific - really helpful and nice. I wasn't around to sample the free afternoon pancakes, but it's a very nice touch!

Room Tip: I stayed in a twin room, no.11, which was quiet and really nice. The stairs are indeed steep, but th...

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in June 2013. The location of the hotel, just next to the Leidseplein, could not be better. There's a bus (line 197) that takes you from the airport to Leidseplein in about 35 minutes. The Leidseplein is one of the busiest centres for nightlife in the city and you can catch a tram to almost anywhere. The price of the room includes breakfast which is simple, but excellent (try the croissants!). The staff are very friendly and inviting and they even invite you to taste some poffertjes (dutch pancakes) every evening. The room is simple, but very convenient and clean. The only minus is the winding staircase (a common sight in Amsterdam) which is managable if you are healthy, but can be a problem for people with disabilities. To sum it up, unless you are looking for all the amneties of a five star hotel, this is the place to stay in Amsterdam. It's a great kittle hotel which makes you feel almost at home!

I found the hotel through tripadvisor. The booking and payment process were smooth, got the discount offered in tripadvisor too. Stayed for 3D2N before flying back to Malaysia. Got the 3-bedder room, the stairs are steep and narrow, that was my one and only complaint (imagine 3 Malaysian girls with big luggages!). Guests need to take their own luggages upstairs, we took quite some time to reach our room. Other factors such as location, room, rates, services are superfine! Worthy hotel for the budget price you pay! It's near to many interesting shops, nothing is too far, we walked a lot during our stay. I remember I walked to the Rock Shop (Hard Rock Cafe) twice, not too far. We even walked up until the Red Light District one night. As we came to Amsterdam after 3 days in Paris, in my opinion, Amsterdam is much better. The hotel in particular is so much better, La Boheme is very friendly towards the guests; good wifi available; Breakfast was great, simple but enough for us, love that they are using fair trade products. I also love the overall environmental concept that La Boheme adopt. Keep up the good work! Glad that my 1st Amsterdam stay was at La Boheme! Hope to come again.

It was a great location with a lovely breakfast each morning. Lovely clean rooms and all the staff were so friendly and helpful.
I would certainly recommend and also return here!!!

Spent 4 nights at La Boheme and echo all the other great reviews of this place. We had realised some of the rooms were very small and the stairs very steep so asked in advance for a twin room, reckoning that would give us more space than a double, and a room not on the top floor. We were at the back on the second floor and the room was perfect for two people. The front would probably have been noisy as the hotel is in the heart of the lively Leidesplein district surrounded by bars, theatres etc and on a main road. Now we are in a more traditional hotel in another part of the Netherlands and are pining for the friendliness and informality of La Boheme and missing Mimi the beautiful cat. I hope we can come back soon!

Room Tip: I can recommend room 8 as a twin room on 2nd floor.
