“Excellent value in a good location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2012

This hotel is right near Leidseplein which means tons of restaurant and bar options. There are also several coffeeshops not too far away. The hotel itself is clean, and the service is top notch. You can buy museum tickets and public transportation tickets from the front desk and save yourself some time. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something cheap but safe and comfortable.

La Boheme was a great place to stay for a 2 star, and the rating reflects that. The staff were awesome, so very helpful. The room was tidy and compact, no frills, but I wasn't expecting any.
I was pleasantly surprised that they did consider some key items - a safe in the room, RFID key fob for after hours access, a simple TV for down time, and WiFi access which is essential (ok I knew the WiFi would be there so it wasn't a surprise, just wanted to point it out).
Also, I can't say enough about how great the location was. Leidseplein is a great place to stay in Amsterdam in my opinion. The neighborhood is somewhat a party district, but it's also close to the trams, the museums, and good shopping in the nine streets area.
My only complaint that I hope they will address is that the mattress pad (between the mattress and the sheet) looked like it had not been washed in some time, if ever. Obviously the sheets were very clean and nice, just the state of the pad was a little disappointing. Also, the mattress was a little saggy, but I slept just fine.

La Boheme is a lovely and welcoming hotel. Staff are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable.
Checking in is a breeze and includes a 'walk-through' of a map of the city and sights.

Our room was on the top floor (4th) and it was tiny and cramped but very clean, well-equipped and perfectly adequate for people who don't spend a lot of time in their room.

The only downside was that the free Wifi was never strong enough to work in our room (top floor, #16). We mentioned it to staff, who said it would be looked into. It was not fixed while we were there but I have no doubt it will be because it's obvious management care and take issues seriously. Instead of having Wifi in the room, we had to always use the Wifi in the dining/bar/reception, which was fine because there you get the added extra of friendly staff and cat.

The daily breakfast is typically Dutch - it's superb, with plenty of choice and beautifully fresh.

We can highly recommend La Boheme. It ticks all the right boxes for a great value hotel in the heart of Amsterdam.

Room Tip: If having Wifi in your room is important, request to NOT have Room 16 (top floor) as it's not st...

Booked this hotel for location and rating on Trip Advisor and wasn't disappointed. The hotel is compact and perfectly bijoux, the staff are lovely and very knowledgeable, breakfast didn't fail to disappoint and Mimi the cat is an added bonus. Hotel is situated in the heart of Leidseplein and you can walk to virtually all the tourist attractions from there, however, pack your comfy shoes. The beds were very comfortable, slept well each night and the shower was perfectly acceptable. Would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend and wouldn't hesitate to stay again should I return to Amsterdam.

Great location and service. A basic room at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: No elevator, and lots of winding stairs, so try to stay on a lower floor.

This place is in a great location at Leidseplein where you can walk all over town. In fact there is a direct bus from the airport (197) every 20 minutes nearly to the door. The staff are all really friendly and there is a lovely bar with snacks. The rooms are a little basic but the prices are competitive in a very expensive city. I stayed with family and we had a triple room on the 1st floor. The beds were narrow and the room looked a little spartan but everything worked well (wifi, heating, bathroom) and the beds were comfy. The shower was great and adjustable for even a tall Dutchman (unfortunately we didn't have one with us). Some of our party stayed in a double room on the 5th floor - this is a big climb with luggage as there is no lift, and they said the wifi didn't work as well up there, but they were comfy nonetheless. The breakfast was one of the best I've had anywhere - homemade hot croissants, tasty rye bread and peppery cheese amongst the treats, with lattes to order. We had a fab time and would go back.

A nice warm friendly hotel on a cold February weekend. Everyone else has written all you need to know. It's a lovely clean, cheap place to stay. Even better the triple rooms actually have 3 single beds would recommend it to anyone who can deal with the steep narrow stairs
