“Girl Heaven”

The only downside to this hostel is that it does take a bit of time to get out to, and you have to understand how the metro works (some convenient lines going from the central station to the hostel don't run every night), but once you do, Hostelle is not far from the metro. Besides that, this place is pretty enchanting! Cute chandeliers, chairs and toilet seats with chick-flick print, a huge tv and a great selection of movies, bob marley quotes and palm trees painted in our dorm room, a pink bejeweled computer mouse... this is girl heaven. There's also a convenient kitchen area for making your own breakfast or dinner or late-night snack. It feels safe and fun. I'd say it's the perfect place to come with a group of young friends between 18 to 30 years old. It's definitely a good bargain.

We spent last weekend at Hostelle Amsterdam. We booked it via Groupon.
Unfortunatelly they profiled it as 'the first hotel for women'. As an hotel it was quiet dissapointing: poor breakfast (fresh orange juice, eggs and fresh -not baked off- bread would have been welcome), you have to clean the table yourself, no daily cleaning of the rooms. If we had expectations for a hostel, our impressions probably would have been much better.

Some overall positive points:
- nicely decorated
- calm atmosphere
- good bed
- perfect for young female travellers
- clean

Some overall negative points:
- very hard to find, no clear indication. This is the most important working point!
- dont ask €10 per night for a parking which is actually for free (the security told us)
- shower doors were broken
- no wifi in the room, only at the reception
- far from the city center, though 15min with public transportation

I have stayed in a lot of hostels, and this was by far the best one! The owner was absolutely lovely and so accommodating and helpful! She made us tea a few times while we watched movies and she is such a nice person!
The hostel itself is beautifully decorated and it feels so intimate and like a slumber party. The common room is very nice and really gets people talking to each other!
If you're traveling alone or with a group of girls definitely stay here! It's a short train from central station and you can get back to it by night bus if you're really late! Loved my stay here

I spent 3 nights at the Hostelle. It definitely has a female vibe- it's relaxed, friendly, calm, sane. By far the cleanest hostel I've stayed at. The staff is very helpful. Good beds, showers, and kitchen facilities. The common room is very large and comfortable. This is NOT a party hostel. It's outside the main tourist areas, but M-54 drops you off close to the hostel which has 24/7 security.

I have no complaints- highly recommend!

My friend booked this hostel for our weekend in Amsterdam. At first it seemed a little out of the city, but a quick train or metro ride and you're right in the city centre. The room was a bit small but clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were great, well decorated, and extremely clean.

We didn't bother with the breakfast as we thought €5 was too much to pay for an extremely basic meal. We ended up finding a restaurant and got a full breakfast for the same price. They don't rent towels, they sell them, so either bring your own or pay €5 for one.

Our room had a balcony, although very tiny. Seems to pretty much be for people to smoke on. Our room got quite warm with 4 people in it, but opening the window and balcony door helped a lot. My only complaint with that was there are no screens, so a lot of bugs came in and I woke up with many bites.

Although it is supposed to be an all girls hostel, there was a guy working there one night. It didn't bother me, but I could see how this would upset people who were expecting no men to be allowed into the hostel.

The lounge/dining area was very nicely decorated, comfortable to hang out in, had lots of reading material and movies to choose from.

They were advertising at the check-in desk that you could buy tickets for things like the Van Gogh Museum, canal boat rides, etc for cheaper than buying the tickets at the actual place. We didn't buy any from them, but turns out their prices were the same or higher. For example, they showed the ticket for the Van Gogh Museum was about €15 when bought at the desk, at the museum it was €14. But maybe theirs included the audio tour or something else, the sign didn't say.

Over all, it was a nice hostel and I would recommend it.

My friends and I stayed at the Hostelle for 2 nights and we were really impressed by how meticulous this place was! They provided breakfast, maps, discounts, information, advice, security guards(on the ground level), hair dryer etc.! A very well thought out hostelle specially for girls. A very comfortable and clean environment for every kind of traveller.
I definitely would recommend this place!

Location: a little further from the central area but that was not a problem at all. Train station to central station was very close by!

When my friend and I arrived at Hostelle we were initially astounded by the contrast it poses to the typical hostel setup. Prior to our stay, we had considered that the location of the hostel and the positioning on the 4th floor of an office building would pose a hindrance to the enjoyment of our time in Amsterdam. In fact, the opposite occurred, the non-central location added to a cool and relaxing atmosphere and it felt almost exclusive.
The decor is unique and brilliantly thought out, the interiors of the bathrooms and showers are to be admired! The breakfast was fine for what we paid (5 euros) and the cooking facilities were adequate (if a little small.) The staff were very friendly and keen to help.
My friend and I stayed in a 4 bed dorm, and my only qualm would be that the room was very small - in fact it required a certain amount of logistics to squeeze in four suitcases. For what we paid this would not normally be a complaint, expect we were aware that those who has paid for an 8 bed dorm had far more room to navigate between the beds in a room perhaps three times to size. We felt this unfair as we had probably paid more for far less space per person.
However, I would definitely recommend this hostel to any female visitor to Amsterdam. The decor, the atmosphere and the staff are well above average and it was so easy to make friends!
