Neighborhood: Red Light District (De Wallen)
Description: This restaurant was once the old stock exchange.Situated at the far end of the large red brick building opposite the Central Station in Amsterdam.Had a wonderful table overlooking the square, in the warm suntrap at the top of a flight of steps. Our waiter was attentive, cordial and efficient. After one ice cold beer, ordered the Hamburger (not cheap at 14.75 Euros) although it came with fires (piping hot) crispy bacon and cheese. You have got to have one of these. The burger was great minced beef was delicious, about 1 inch thick and perfectly cooked. The juices from the meat oozed out as you took each bite. It was one of, if not the best burger I have ever eaten. A totally enjoyable experience as you watch the world world go by. Try it you won't be disappointed.

We ate lunch here twice during our stay. Delicious food - the best fries ever! We had a variety of food between us from open sandwiches on sourdough bread piled high with toppings, a home-made burger and an amazing apple cake spiced with cinnamon (which had to be sampled on the second day just to make sure it was as good as I thought!) Not far from Central Station or Dam Square. A shame the weather wasn't nicer so that we could have sat outside but it was warm and cosy inside. I would highly recommend and would happily return.

After visiting Van Gogh museum in snowing winter at Amsterdam, what else could you do? The salad I ordered is quiet nice. Warm bread, fresh lattuace, tasty salty fish (I guess), good enough for lunch. Nice service.

The conference dinner was held at this venue and it was fine dining indeed! Can't say I particularly liked the food, but the company was great, music very entertaining and venue truly striking.

A great way to spend three hours before taking the train back to the airport and home to London. Situated about 400 metres from the front of Amsterdam Central Station
An afternoon sunshine spot sitting at the top of the steps in front of the entrance to the large old stock exchange building. It overlooks a square to the side of a busling road, so plenty to look at.
Service was attentive, friendly but not intrusive by our waiter - The ice cold beer was ideal for the warm sunny day we were enjoying
We also ordered lunch - burger in a bun, fries and salad. ( Beursburger)
The burger was the best I've ever eaten. Delicious, very beefy, perfectly cooked and about an inch (25mm) thick , and layered with bacon and cheese. The juices ran out as you ate it and the bun was more like a crusty roll , much better than a bap or bun. You've got to try one of these!!!!
Price not the cheapest burger at 14.95 euros but well worth it. I would eat more burgers if they were always like this.
One of the highlights of our weekend stay.
