Description: Argentinian Grill Restaurant in Amsterdam Situated in the center of Amsterdam, La Estencia Restaurant offers an intimate setting with a friendly staff and is a meat-lover’s paradise, serving everything from fillet steaks to beef tenderloins. The restaurant is located in the heart of the city, right next to the infamous Rembrandtplein and extremely close to some of the most popular tourist attractions of the city: the Flower Market, Begijnhof and Waterlooplein. Enjoy an authentic Argentinian meal with your loved one, your friends and even your family in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere accompanied by some light Argentine Tango music. The exquisite atmosphere is further emphasized by the extremely friendly and welcoming staff, recommending some of the best dishes on-site to go along with a fine glass of Argentinian Malbec. Albeit being so close to the touristy part of Amsterdam, La Estencia is everything but, being a favorite among locals for its first-class food and excellent price-quality ratio. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of the beautiful weather to sit on the restaurant’s terrace and watch the world go by while you enjoy some garlic dollar chips and some king prawns!

We were staying close by and really wanted an Argentinian meal. There are so many Argentinian steak houses in Amsterdam so how do you choose? TripAdvisor, of course.

We certainly weren't disappointed. Some typical empanadas to start, and then my wife and I shared BBQ ribs and sirloin steak. The ribs were very succulent and meaty. The steak was excellent. Tasty and very tender for sirloin and cooked to perfection for me. The portions were generous to the point that we couldn't finish all the side dishes.

Service was quietly efficient. Not in your face, which suited us. All in a great meal we would recommend.

Smaller restaurant, personal service. Food well prepared and presented.
Menu has a wide variety of appies/main courses and desserts. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food.

We choose this place due to it's proximity to our hotel as we were tired due to lots of sightseesing, trip advisor helped in our search but location was the key and have to say what a find! Anthony our host was extremely personable, great efficient staff but most importantly was the food, in short, amazing. Melt in the mouth steaks cooked just right, our medium rare steak was perfect, the ribs were great and the platters are excellent value with a choice of lovely sauces, if we were staying longer would come back in a heartbeat. Do not judge this restaurants by it's position in the trip advisor league table, this place is small with limited covers therefore will not get as many reviews as larger establishments, miss it, miss out!

My partner and I enjoyed lunch at La Estancia on Sunday, April 20, the last day of our four day visit to Amsterdam We wanted a fairly substantial meal before going to Schipol Airport for an evening flight, and we certainly got that!

Whilst we were browsing the menu in the street outside, a most pleasant lady came out and greeted us and showed us the lunch-time special menu at 20 euros per person. We decided to try it: not only because it represented very good value for money but also because the warmth of her greeting made us feel very welcome. Once inside, we found her husband / partner equally pleasant and they both spoke excellent English and had a very good sense of humour. We were waited on assiduously and made to feel valued customers.

The restaurant was very nice inside; the tables were spotlessly clean as also were the cutlery and glasses. The toilets were also clean and well-appointed.

It was indeed, a very good three-course meal and we both enjoyed it. Theresa had a starter of calamari, followed by charcoal-grilled chicken with potatoes and vegetables and a dessert of profiteroles. I went for the soup (piping hot and plenty of it), Argentinian rump steak (large and medium-cooked to perfection) and an ice-cream dessert. We were both staggered at the sheer volume of food for a total cost of 40 euros (plus a discretionary gratuity). We each had a small beer with our meals and these were, of course, at extra cost, but by no means expensive.

In a city such as Amsterdam, this was outstanding value for money. We were by no means the only customers sampling the lunch-time menu, which is, in itself, a good sign, because there are plenty of alternative establishments to choose from.

Try it, if you can; you shouldn't be disappointed and we intend to return when we re-visit Amsterdam later this year.

Denis and Theresa from London, England.
