Quite vintage and rather cheap hotel in the museum district. For fit travelers as the steps are pretty steep.
If I could ask for one improvement it would be that the management considers to serve breakfast before 0830 ;-)

Stayed in this B&B for an autumn Euro-trip.
Location: Excellent. Tram/bus stop (Hobbemastraat stop) literally outside, having said that, I was still be able to sleep well, no funny noises and no annoying horns. The famous, must-visit Rijksmuseum is next to the tram stop too. Leidseplein where I grabbed nice dinner and sat for a cup of coffee is less than 10 minutes away, walking. I took the tram and the Dam and central station are 10-15 minutes away. Bus 197 took me to and from Schiphol airport for 4 Euros, for about half an hour, so make sure you have a seat.
Room: I booked for a single bed but had a double instead, for the same price. My room was on the top floor. It was big, clean, no awful smell. Shampoo, soap, towels provided. Proper heating, thank goodness, as the weather dropped to 4C. The wardrobe has a key so I left my luggage bags in it and took the keys with me. Safe enough? I can't tell if the sheets were changed, but they were less wrinkled when I cam back. The blanket was uncomfortable. I was trying to figure out what it was made from, but the tag was useless. I'm just sure it was really itchy. There is a sink to brush teeth, wash face in the room. And ladies, no hair dryer.
Hotel and Staff: The hotel is vintage, the built and the design, and that's what I love about it. Everyone's question and priority nowadays, WiFi=check! The stairs are steep, and i mean steep. So if you're visiting with elderlies(no offense), or with someone with knee problem, forget about it. There is a warning sign about the downstairs neighbor's cats smell, but I literally inhaled vigorously and it wasn't bad at all. There are separate shower areas and toilets in each floor. The toilets are small, not fit for big guests(again, no offense, just stating the facts) definitely not for claustrophobic ones. The shower area on the 2nd floor is bigger than the ones on the top floor. The breakfast room is very cozy. Breakfast consists of unlimited bread (white, brown, fruity loaf), hot drink (coffee, tea), jams, butter, nutella. A perfectly hard boiled egg, cheese and some bacon (any more of these for 50cents each). There is no luggage room. So for early check-ins, suit cases are left somewhere in the reception. The staff couldn't be any friendlier, spoke good English, and very accommodating. I didn't meet the dog though. I was given keys for the front door and for my room. The reception shuts at 2230, but someone was around in case I needed something. I was unsure about the safety of the front door, so piece of advice, make sure you close the front door going in and out. The vintage feel was the most appealing factor for me. It was old but not creepy. I loved it!

Room was basic, but clean. Price reasonable for Amsterdam high prices. Great location across from museum and walking distance to most attractions. Stairs are steep and not for those with weak legs or subject to vertigo. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Dining room is very quaint and breakfast service is very good. Food is basic but a good start to anyone's day. Shared bathroom was always clean and never had to wait for use. Toilet and Shower are separate and size wise - difficult to turn around in. Bus stops within steps of hotel to/from airport.

Exellent and cheap stay for two nights. The rooms are small and the hotel old-fashioned, but its very clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was very nice, with view over the museum and nice staff. Very homie feeling. The only thing I can complain about is that that there is a strange smell in the room, like from old house.

Forget the comments about the great location, the excellent public transport links, and proximity to cool places. These are all true, but the same can be said for other hotels in Amsterdam. What sets Hotel Museumzicht apart is its quirkiness. The nearly vertical stairs? Get over it. Would you prefer the standard safety-compliant boring forgettable stairs in 99% of places? The small rooms? No complaints there either. You are visiting one of the true urban gems of the world at an affordable price. Look at the breakfast room, where you can enjoy the morning sunshine through two first floor wondows. The wooden floor, ancient windows and stained glass belong to another age. Stay at this hotel and savour the memories. A word of warning if you are there with a loved one: it is right next to a diamond shop. Walk left when you leave the hotel and your wallet should be safe :-)
