brilliant location cosy & relaxed house enjoyed my stay there and loved staying at another of their apartments on the Singel, best area to stay in the Dam and very reasonably priced. Would love to go back.

My three daughters and I took a trip to Amsterdam and stayed at Maes B&B from April 18 to April 23, 2012. What a wonderful place! We had two rooms that were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was quiet and we had no trouble sleeping at night. Our hosts, Vlad and Ken were very gracious, welcoming, and helpful with various tips and suggestions for our vacation in and around the city. Every morning we had a delicious breakfast with a large assortment of baked goods, fruit, cereal, cheeses, etc. The location is perfect. You can walk to everything in the city. The girls and I had a wonderful time. I would definitely stay here again.

We chose Maes B&B for its convenient location but it was much more than that. We were travelling with another couple that were only staying in Amsterdam for two days while we were staying for six nights, our friends stayed in the B&B while we took the apartment in HeerenStraat this is one of the "Negen Straatjes" that contain all manner of small shops restaurants and clothing boutiques.

The B&B is a typical Amsterdam house with steep stairs but the room our friends had on the second floor had a small lounge area the bathroom was enormous and the bed room at the rear provided a quiet place to sleep.

The Apartment opened onto the street with a just a couple of steps to the footpath the lounge area contained a couple of couches and an armchair the Queen-size bed was comfortable the bath room had a great shower while the toilet was a bit cramped under the stairs.
The Kitchen provided all the necessary utensils for cooking meals although we mostly ate out.

Breakfast was provided next door in the B&B and this was amazing with the table groaning under weight of all the food "Milo" was on hand to serve coffee or tea and made fresh small dutch pancakes every morning.

Thanks to Vlad and Ken for a great stay

Room Tip: For long term stay choose the apartment on ground level.

Stayed here for 3 nights on way to Spain from Canada. We actually stayed at 95 Single, not the Maes B&B , but part of their operation. We had two basement rooms (ours was at front with view to pedestrians feet on our side of canal and roof tops on otherside / sis-in-law&her hubby were on other side). En-suite bathroom in ours was cool modern design with serperate shower stall -plenty of hot water and water pressure. Our bedoom was "oddly / sparsely" furnished (?) - open and enclosed shelves rather than cupboards /wardropes. This may be a problem to some but not to us. Location is perfect. I'm going to say this again - location is perfect. You can walk from Centraal Station 12-15 minutes if luggage permits. When you are in the living/sitting room its as if you are in your own canal side house. In fact that is how we started to refer to it as "our canal side house". We'd often have this to ousrselves (although building seemed fully occupied during our stay). Perfect spot to have a pre-dinner cocktail and watch people go by - same for night cap. You can tell from the envious looks on the passers by what a fantastic location this is. Was going to give this 4 * , but decided I had nothing to complain about so 5*. Across the bridge ( just to the right from front door) is a street with a Spanish restaurant and a Greek restaurant - both are well worth a visit. The location on the edge of the Jordaan area is perfect. Dam Square is three / four blocks away. Liedsplein mibbe 25-30 minute easy walk away. Anne Frank House close by. One minor word of caution this is a very old historical Amsterdam building - your steamer trunk luggage might be difficult to humph up&down tradionally narrow stairs. Enjoy the location, enjoy breakfast , enjoy Vald , and most of all enjoy Amsterdam ! My favourite Amsterdam neighbourhood bar/cafe when I lived in Amsterdam in the 1990s was just up the block but it's no longer there. Take it from someone who lived here out with this B&B - you'd be hard pressed to find a better location -remember it's flat - you can walk just about everywhere and if you need a tram - there's a stop on the street behind the B&B - down the alley , turn left on next main street. We stayed one night in American Hotel on our way back to Canada from Spain on same trip. Would have preferred to have been back at Maes B&B - but they don't do one night stays...

We stayed at the Singel apartments, great location, big comfortable room with the best beds of our whole trip. every facility you could possably need. Very good breakfasts but they could start them a little bit earlier, say 8:30.
Ken & Vlad were the most helpfull hosts, we will be back.

Visited this great B&B with friends and again all decided that it must be the best in Amsterdam. Friendly greeting from Ken - who even helped us with cases up to the attic "suite" It is so nice to stay somewhere which is not just a bedroom. Rooms very clean and all facilities of a high standard.
We and our friends both had a mini suite which meant that we were able to sit together for chats and relaxing between sight seeing. In addition the common areas also provided a place to relax. The breakfast is one of the best ever - lots of fresh fruit lovely bread and freshly made pancakes, and to be able to make a cup of tea at any time is a great bonus.
Its location is on a quiet but stylish shopping area but only minutes from the bustle of Dam Square. Why would you stay anywhere else? we will be back

I traveled with a party of four to Europe and Maes B&B was our first stop. I cannot begin to tell you what a wonderful time we had at Ken and Vlad's B&B. The house, rooms, and bathroom were very clean and neatly presented. Our breakfasts exceeded expectations offering a variety of food for all dietary needs. I especially enjoyed Vlad's company in the morning! He made a point to help us figure out what to see and do in his city and how we can get there. Vlad is very knowledgable and helpful and his staff is very friendly! The house offered free WiFi as well and a house computer in case you forgot your laptop! We would have liked to see Ken more, but assumed he was tending to the other house up the road. I highly recommend this house to anyone planning a trip to Amsterdam. You will not be disappointed.
