I've been living without Indian food for months so I was extremely excited to try Surya. The menu has everything you'd expect from a comprehensive Indian restaurant (northern Indian). I started with Daal Poori and chutneys, a samosa, paneer makhni, and parantha. I had hoped to get a sampler platter or two half portions of dishes, but was told this wasn't possible. All of the dishes were ok, but with a little something missing. The samosas were served with a chinese-style sweet and sour sauce instead of tamarind - the paneer makhni sauce was a little too sweet - and the fresh mint tea (delicious!) was served with italian biscotti (yummy, but bizarre). Three things redeemed the average food: The ambiance and presentation of the food - the attentive and friendly service - and the kufte! Save room for dessert and do NOT miss the kufte (traditional homemade Indian ice cream with cardamom, pistachios, and coconut). It's delicious!
