This little courtyard it beautiful. It feels like you have left amsterdam and have entered a whole new town.
Definitely worth a quick look if you are near by. Can't complain for free :)

Cute little courtyard hidden off the Spui. Only a small section can be walked in (the rest is blocked off for residents). Here you can see the door of oldest house in city and step into the small chapel. Though, it is supposed to be a quiet zone I found on my visit that those who were visiting did not respect the rules at all (posted on wall when entering). We were also able to see a few residents out sweeping the walk ways.

This place is a bit hard to find, but it's very pleasant to visit. You can imagine those old ladies being closeted here in this small yard, praying and working.

The ideal sight-seeing subject: rare, doesn't take much time, can do whenever you want and it's free! This is an original beguinage: an enclosure where in medieval times unmarried ladies lived who weren't prepared to actually become a nun, often widows. The houses are still only reserved for unmarried ladies and comes sun down, no man is allowed on the premises except for the parish Priest. Admire the quiet, visit the English Church and pay your respect to the lady who insisted on being buried in the gutter next to the church: not on the graveyard, but literally in the gutter you'll find her gravestone.

This fabulous island in the centre of Amsterdam is an old Almshouse with a Roman Catholic Church and an Anglican Church.

Wonderful to sit and relax admiring the tranquility and peace of this little bit of Heaven just off Spui.

A great way to spend a quiet half hour, the Churches welcome Visitors to look or take part in a Service,
