An interesting oasis in the city. Not hard to find...You can always ask a shopkeeper where the door is.

This perfectly maintained square offers a rare moment of peace in an otherwise busy city. Whilst not really a tourist attraction (women still live here) you can have a look around the square, read a little about their history and visit the chapel converted inside some houses back when Catholicism was still banned.

Photography is banned to respect the living nature of the place though a number of tourists seem to rudely ignore the signs.

a little oasis, not east to find, but worth looking for, elegant looking houses steep in history dating from 1521, look for the wonderfull chapel, opposite chuch door entrance.

My wife & I stopped by the reclusive square on March 13, 2013. We were walking in the area, stopped in the American Bookstore - its actual name and asked directions. We were kindly told out the door, down 20 yards and through the big wooden door of the left. Down we wet found and walked in-beautiful-just like it was described in all the books. You are not suppose to take pictures or disturb the tenants. The church was closed but we were there on an off day. A nice side trip.

Despite my frantic research into amsterdam before hand, we had not even noticed this place until we went on the sandemans tour, to our disbelief it was a completely hidden beautiful little square which you can only access via a large door, most people do not even know this place exists!!!

For those of you who are time consious, this will only take up 20 minutes of your time!
