We spent most of the day in the zoo and it was really good entertainment. There were lost of really interesting animals as well as a butterfly house, a planetarium, an aquarium, and lots of activities. Our favourite area was the small mammal house, where you could freely interact with some cute marmosets. The sight of the day was the 3 month old chimpanzee and mother. It cost us 19.50 euros but was well worth it.

Went to Amsterdam during October school holidays and decided to take our 10 year old daughter to the zoo as the weather was very good.Zoo was very reasonably priced and very easy to get to either walking from central or a 5 minute tram ride...would suggest to buy tickets before hand as there was quite a large queue, but with pre bought you got straight through. We were in the zoo which has a huge aquarium,an insect area and a beautiful butterfly house as well as all the birds and animals for round 3 and a half hours and it was excellent,we walked miles but never really noticed because there was so much to see. This zoo is a must for everyone, families with toddlers could get little carts for the little ones which they loved.Definitely would recommend.

Except waiting for some time in a (short!) line and no free maps ofered, I have all the best words to say. Our daughter enjoyed every minute of our visit, she even forgot to go to sleep, when it was her time already far away. There are many animal species presented, on outside and inside places. Some spots are not easily accessible by baby puschair. We really enjoyed our visit there and would love to make it longer if our daughter could remain awake. Recommended to all families!

Well.... What can I say.... This is the best zoo I have ever been to. Couldn't believe how close we were to some of the animals... Only some water between us. And walking through the enclosure with the monkeys and butterflies.
We spent about 4 hours at the zoo. Could have spent more if it wasn't pouring of rain. There was still loads of things to see inside.
Well worth the money. Have been recommending to friends.

Off peak visit to the Artis Zoo is a great experience since you can wonder around freely with very few people around you. The variety of animals is great but what made it really special is the butterfly house and the Aquarium with a large variety of fish and butterflies roaming freely around you. It was easy to go around and explore and price was right compared to other attractions which you pay more for less.
