Was looking for something to do with my daughter and 2teenage granddaughters when came across the zoo and thought we would give it a go ,we were really surprised at how big the zoo was and how many animals were there conspire in the middle of the city ,we spent the whole day there and really enjoyed it ,the zoo was really clean and well signposted ,we didn’t eat there other than a cake and cuppa as was going for a meal later ,we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different from your regular tourist trips x

Decided to spend the day at the zoo and found it to be lovely. The exhibits were first class and the animals all taken care of so well . The lay out was planned attractively and the plantings very beautiful.
Recommend this zoo highly.

Came here on a whim since we already had the I Amsterdam City Pass. We visited 5 museums within the day and also the zoo, plus Microbia, so buying the pass paid for itself!
Even with the pass you still have to stand in que to get entry via tickets. On a Monday morning during off season i can only assume it's not peak times which is why the que and crowds were low. However there were a few schools that were on a field trip.
The museum is quite vast. We arrived without planning and visiting on a whim while still wanting to keep a schedule we wanted to breeze through all the areas which we found difficult to do. For one there's a lot of ground to cover due to quite a large selection of animals. And secondly places like the Aquarium captivated our attention, not only by the displays, but how they designed the aquarium into what looks to be a historical old restored building. -Something you don't see at other aquariums and zoos.
I loved how the animal pins were designed so that you can have a better view while the animal stays in it's environment as the leopard and wolf cages are set up to allow them to travel under the walkway. Where the elephants and giraffes are located has a walkway for humans to walk through amounts the animals habitat. And two areas, such as lemurs and what looks to be a dwarf kangaroo you can walk completely amount the animal with no cage. So i was very impressed with the zoo's thought and set-up.

I love going to this zoo, Especially the butterfly house. Alot of the animals are not caged and freely mix with people and other species in various setups around the zoo. Its nice to see animals without the bars and fences! Obviously the preditors have cages, but small moneys and such are free to walk around and bouce about your head. Love it!

We just loved artis! No cages, lots of friendly animals. There is a restaurant near the girafes, you can eat looking at them.

I think one of the oldest zoo’s in europe but what a nice one, the style and lay-out of the park in the middle of the city is unique and one of a kind! You can see the animals really up close and almost interact with them, next time i will visit this park with my whole family!

Really a great zoo. In fact it is a wonderful garden with lots of flowers and trees and many animals which are very close to you. This is really amazing. We spent 3h30 there and had a great time. It's worth the money. One very negative point : the enclosure of the lions is too small. Otherwise, excellent and zen.
