Very interesting to see how people used to live on houseboats in the past and how they do now. Some surprising facts about houseboats in Amsterdam and there's a little cafe on board

It was very informative as to how people lived/live on the river. It is very small so watch your head getting in and out of the boat, great fun and worth the money.

The houseboat museum is a must when in Amsterdam- it was free for us on the i-amsterdam card. It is a great insight into this historic dutch way of life. It is hugely informative and also in great condition with plenty to see and do on board. Upstairs is a lovely place to take photos with it's beautiful floral arrangements. Refreshments available on board in the mini-kitchen.

We stumbled upon this little museum our first full day in Amsterdam, and it was perfect--a small attraction that you could see in a brief amount of time (great for jet-lagged, short attention spans); and a terrific introduction this way of life in a very water-centric culture. One minor drawback--there are no restrooms here, not even for a 9-yr-old tourist who really needed one. Understandable, given where we were, but still made the visit not as good as it could have been.

Took my tween son here and the owner charges an adult rate if they are as tall as a particular line on his wall. My son is only 5'3". It wasn't a big deal, but left a bad impression -- got the feeling the owner was penny pinching and gouged me for a measly extra euro. After paying the entrance fee, we realized there are only a few rooms to see. The decor was quaint, but I can't believe people pay to see this. I love archtecture and design, but there was little to see here. Hugely underwhelming. Save your money, don't waste your time.
