Description: Na een avondje dineren in ons restaurant is iedereen een couscousfan.

“Simple taste of North Africa”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

In Amsterdam, there are a lot of places where you can eat cheap but you have to know where you should be. Looking for a really well-filled plate, then the Cous Cous club comes highly recommended.
The menu is simple; The choice of three couscous dishes, veggie, with lamb or a la maison which means with lamb, merguez and chicken. Everything is organic and local. The food is steamed and exactly how a good couscous should taste.
The owner Wouter was open for suggestions to the menu. We had a nice chat in the very clean kitchen. And for dessert, they have a fabulous home made tarte-tartin. Highly recommended.

The music played is a private collection of North African 78 RPM Vinyl albums which adds a nice warm atmosphere.

“Bohemian Casual Atmosphere”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

We had a lamb and a veggie couscous between us and enjoyed them. The menu is pretty limited, but the couscous is excellent.

Service was friendly and very relaxed. We enjoyed funky background music and a bohemian casual atmosphere.

“Quirky, cool, great value.”
Reviewed April 20, 2013 via mobile

What a find. We stepped of the tram in de pip and stumbled into this little cafe with just three items on the menu.

Huge serving of lamb, steamed vegetables, cous cous and Harissa.

Heaven on a plate, just pure comfort food.

Service was fast and friendly.
Great value for money, lovely atmosphere, eclectic decor.

As previous reviewer pointed out, it couldn't be farther from the stag parties, red light and cannabis cafes.

“For people who like pure and honest food”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

For starters, this place is in De Pijp area and not the Red Light District.
Its a great place if you're looking for something tasty and healthy to eat and happen to like the one dish they serve here: couscous. It comes in 3 variations: the basis is vegetarian, good quality couscous with big steamed vegetables and home-made harissa (I recommend ordering the lentil sauce with this one). Or order same with 2 merquez sausages or the royale which adds an extra bit of lamb meat. Simple? Yes, but if you appreciate the taste of real food, this is perfect. There are no starters but do check out the dessert (almond cake, tarte tatin). The atmosphere is a bit hip Parisian, the music a wonderful mix of for instance old French and Tango. Many locals come here before or after a visit to next door's Rialto. A popular art movie house where you may find a film from your country: France, Iran, Brazil, China, Eastern Europe, Africa etc. Worth checking out! So if you want a night out like the locals, now you know what to do.
