Very nice, a bit of a spicy kick... had sweet & sour chicken, mixed noodles, egg fried rice after some fried dumplings and spring rolls with nice dip. All really nice, service was a little quiet but just what we came to expect in Amsterdam... I think it's due to being more laid back than unattentive. Cost about EUR35 inc a couple of drinks so not bad at all really.

We had dinner in this lovely little restaurant on the first night of our most recent stay in Amsterdam. We fancied a Chinese meal and used the reviews on TA to guide us. We were not to be disappointed. The staff are all charming and the service was prompt and charming.

We were overwhelmed by wonderful choices suggested in the menu, and so chose the set Szechuan menu for 2 which was perfect for us. This consisted of a delicious hot and sour soup, followed by delightful light spring rolls, and then the banquet began in earnest - chicken with nuts and chillies, beef slices with vegetables in oyster sauce, crispy pork, Chinese vegetables and boiled rice. All washed down with delicious Chinese beer.

I also loved the fact that - apart from the soup and spring rolls - the dishes were all arranged on one dish with multiple sections so that we could dip into and experience a variety of flavours at the same time.

It was particularly encouraging to see many other Chinese people dining at China Si Chuan and the restaurant was filled with a lovely ambience of people generally enjoying their meals!

And the price was very reasonable - in total we paid around 50 euros for our set meals and, beer and two gin and tonics when we were initially seated. I think that's very good value indeed. Highly recommended.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is delicious! This is a lovely place tucked away from the busy street. Would definitely recommend a visit for dinner. Sesame prawns and spicy dumpling starters were amazing, the mains were also lovely. Reasonably priced too

China Si Chuan may not be in all the guide-books, but as a New Yorker, I can say this was the best Chinese food we have ever had! Everything from spring rolls, dumplings and our beef and chicken entrees were crisp and fresh! The service is excellent as well!

We walked for kilometers trying to find this place, but it was,"a diamond in the rough." The friendly staff gave us first class service. We had two different fish dishes, (one steamed with ginger, one sautéed in Cantonese style) and spicy eggplant with tofu & vegetables and it really hit the spot with cold Dutch beer. It was reasonably priced, in a city that has a reputation for expensive restaurants. The Red Light District is now one of the safer areas of Amsterdam, so don't worry about it's old reputation, we saw kids with parents, etc. and it's next to the oldest church in the city.
