Max at the front desk is the best. Most helpful and a credit to the Conservatorium. Maud is also excellent. We would stay at this hotel over any others in Amsterdam. Hotel went out of their way to find the luggage that was lost.

Location, hotel amenities, professionalism and friendliness of staff, advice of the concierge, subdued yet luxurious decor, quality of the fitness center, comfort of the room, the whole experience was one of being pampered in style. Definitely worth the splurge! You will be pleasantly surprised; the hotel and staff go above and beyond expectation.

My partner and I chose to stay at this hotel to celebrate our anniversary and we had the best time of our vacation staying here.

Design: The hotel was gorgeous inside out with a historical outer facade and modern and stylish interior. High ceilings with sunlight beaming in and great amenities and customer service from the moment you step into the hotel. The room was nicely decorated with modern and upscale finishing/furnitures that are comfortable and warm at the same time. Multiple TVs in the room and great accessibility to drapes, lights without leaving the bed.

Location: Great central location. The tram station is right at the doorstep and many different stores/restaurants around the area.

Service: From the concierge, reception, housekeeping to the restaurant staff, we were treated in a friendly, professional and efficient manner. All questions were answered with great knowledge. Concierge was very helpful where they were able to recommend great dining options and provide confirmation through multiple ways.

Facilities: All amenities that you'll need are available. Gym was top-notch with a lovely pool. Bikes are also available for rent.

Above all, the hotel management has went out of their way to make our stay special with surprise gestures and congratulatory notes. It's also a great pleasure to see the hotel embracing and celebrating equality and diversity during the Pride event that happened during the week. Highly recommend this hotel for business and leisure for a fantastic experience away from home. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the city rather than the tram would provide a quieter experience

The Conservatorium is undoubedtly one of the better hotels in Amsterdam, located in the calmer museum district across the street from the Van Gogh and Stedelijk museums. If you want to be closer to the centre of the city, this hotel is a little further out.
Upon arriving I was warmly greeted by the front desk and offered a welcome beverage, with check-in smooth and easy (even though arriving 2 hours before the check-in time). I was assigned a duplex room over two floors, which was an interesting though somewhat inconvenient layout. I couldn't help but fear the quite steep and sharp metal staircase leading to the bedroom. The rooms are generally well appointed with everything controlled electronically. The issue I had was that my room, on the upper floors, was on Van Baerlestraat that has a busy tram line running along it. When trying to sleep this was quite disturbing and you could feel the vibrations. While the front desk were suggesting I would have to pay to move room, with a little persuasion they reasonably moved me to another room.
The spa area was nice, though it could have been tidier and cleaner. The hammam was not working. The changing rooms were a bit of a mess. However, the gym was very comprehensive in its array of equipment / free weights, the spa staff were lovely and the complimentary pilates / yoga classes were great.
The breakfast buffet was nice, though if it wasn't included and I had to pay the €40+ then I would avoid it considering how many outside options there are.
I would certainly be happy to go back to this hotel, however, there is a part of me that thinks there are others worth exploring too. So while a happy customer, they could have made me happier.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms located on Van Baerlestraat as the trams are loud

The hotel is an architectural gem which lives up to its reputation. I wanted to write a quick note to recognize the staff. Each and every one of them was exceptional with a special mention for Isabella, the concierge, who found some local places within walking distance that were casual with excellent cuisine and not touristy.
