This is a new hotel with its own style and atmosphere. Since this used to be a real conservatory it is a combination of old walls and coridors with a new trends. I am not a fan of modern Dutch design but this fusion is interesting. We stayed in grand room and it was really spacious enough. Bathroom was OK too but I would like to note that the door handle is very original and since the door is very heavy it is almost impossible to open it with one hand.
The breakfast was good also no complains to the hotel services. Very nice hotel bar. The location of the hotel is almost ideal - quiet enough but within less than 5 minutes walk to museums and luxury shopping street. Also the tram stop is right in front of the hotel.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for reviewing our hotel. We are delighted to hear that you have enjoyed your stay with us. With regards to the heavy bathroom door I am happy to inform you that we are already addressing this issue by adding an extra metal handle to the solid bathroom doors and an additional glass handle to the glass doors, which will make it easier to open them. Hopefully you will give us the pleasure of welcoming you back.

Warm regards,
Conservatorium hotel Amsterdam

Beautifully renovated, the conservatorium is now a very chic hotel, with a wonderful glass covered dinning area, a Hip and Happening bar suites all types all be it a little expensive.

The Hotel is well worth a visit if only to see the wonderful architecture and renovation.

Well situated for all the museums and just around the corner from the upmarket shopping street of PC Hooftstraat.

I have stayed at many hotels in Amsterdam and finally the Conservatorium Hotel comes along.
All the TA reviews are extremely complimentary because this is one "great" hotel and sets a higher standard for contemporary luxury hotels worldwide.
The owner of this hotel should take great pride in the way this wonderful old building has been converted/restored into Amsterdam's new cool place to hang, eat, sleep and drink.
From the outside of the building it appears like a typical historic grand Dutch building and then you drive up into the inner court yard and the magic begins as you gaze upon the lobby which is truly an architectual gem. From the minute you are greeted at the front door it feels extremely welcoming and as though you have arrived somewhere very special.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The two restaurants are housed in superb spaces (lobby and second floor) and the food served is some of the best in the city.
The bar is moody chic with a great vibe, lots of good music and quite popular with locals.
The second level has some wonderful shops and feels almost gallery like because of the presence of the original buildings height and historic design elements.
The rooms are very modern by Amsterdam standards and have all the latest technological gadgets installed (although my room's door bell went off one night 3 or 4 times for no apparent reason so they may need to adjust a few things) and the television was free standing, huge and really impressive. The bathrooms are large, warm and filled with Jerusalem stone.
The hallways leading to the rooms were a little dark and sparse but that seems to be quite typical for Amsterdam. In regards to their business facilities, I would recommend allocating some additional space for small groups of business associates because it was difficult to have a "lobby" meeting (I was there during their school break and it was filled with people and a little loud for a private one on one conversation).
Overall, I absolutely enjoyed my stay and look very much forward to returning to this fantastic new hotel.
Congratulations to the ownership and management.
Job really well done!!

Room Tip: It's really not about the outside that counts with this hotel. A high floor with a quiet room is probably best.

By coincidense I stayed twice at this hotel within a few weeks. This is the former Amsterdam Conservatory and it has been beautifully rebuilt into a splendid five star property. The lobby is huge and the architecture remarkable. Rooms are spacious; the first time I stayed in a duplex room: living room and bath room downstairs and bedroom and another bathroom upstairs. Second time was in a large room on the seventh floor. Service is what you would expect from a hotel like this. Top breakfast and top gym.
