Wonderful parkland that is more wild than Vondelpark, but also farther away... worthy destination for a 'big' bike ride, but a picnic is probably better spent in a crowded inner city park.

Although out of the way, it is worth going the Amsterdamse Bos. There are a number of creative and fun things for the children and it is easy to spend an entire day, or two, or three...

The park, known as the forest, is gigantic. It's peaceful but full of life. Go for a run or a row, enjoy the outdoors as much as the Dutch

Kilometers of fantastic running tracks, football pitches, a rowing lake and forest featuring highland cows. The Bose is a man made spot of pastoral right next to the city. There's a lovely little pancake restaurant when you need a break from your exertions.

IF you have the time, visiting this woodland area in Amsterdam is lovely. Many acres of wilderness to bike, walk and picnic in. Many concerts are held here.
