This was our second time trying Dutch fries in Amsterdam. Because we were sharing between two people, we opted for the large (big mistake) with the fritesauce (mayo). Although they could have been cooked a little longer to create a better crunch, they were still good. Keep in mind that the large can literally feed 4 people easily (no joke), so if you are looking for something to munch on, share a small or at most a medium between two people. Service is friendly, and the line moves quickly.

Named for the statue of the urinating boy in Brussels, this sidewalk-side purveyor of "pommes frits" (French Fries Potatoes) has several shops in bothe Brussels and Amsterdam, but the one ar Damrok 41 (between Central Rail Station and Dam Square) served THE best french fries on the planet!

These fries are a Flemish delicacy made from fresh cut potatoes and fries to a golden tan in light oils before being generously endowed with sea salt and stuffed into paper cones to be eaten as a talke-away treat while walking the streets. Twenty odd sauce toppings are available, but the locals generally opt for the "Spicey Mayonnaise" with just a hint of cayenne and garlic...delicious!

For less than 5 Euros you are set for lunch of a late evening attack of the munchies after visiting some of the local "coffee shops" and sampling some of the oft-times free cannabis "samples"; or some of the excellent beers in the many local pubs that dot the area.

I am a big amateur of french fries and I have to admit that those whom I ate here, in Amsterdam, were excellent. Neither in Belgium, nor in France, fries are also good as in the Netherlands. Maybe, In N' Out to Anaheim California can compete.

There are a lot of Vlaamse frites sellers in town. I heard this one's the best so i tried. It's delicious and easy to find (mear amsterdam central) but the texture of the potatoes isn't really mild. Some people might loke it but i dont ;)

p.s. the price of this vlaamse frites is more expensive than others

My first impression was that the chips were very good. Part of this was because the chips were nice and warm while the weather was cold. they were also thicker and softer than US fries. I just got ketchup, no special sauces. Portions were VERY large. After eating half of a small serving, I felt eating the rest would make me ill. On a positive note, these chips will keep you full for a while. The queue time was variable. At times, it was very long but 30 minutes later there might be no wait.
