“This hostel was an absolute cracker!”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

The hostel was very easy to find from the train station and the location of it couldn't be better. There was 9 of us in a mixed room of 18 and big lockers are available for stuff. The bar downstairs was cracking, the staff were accommodating and the prices were very reasonable! The bathrooms were very spacious and the showers always hot. The beds were surprisingly comfortable however there were no plugs in rooms. However, the staff more than compensated for that by allowing us to use sockets downstairs and when we made our pot noodles (with a kettle we brought - there's no kitchen) they gave us forks. There is no kitchen access however at 6am when we were hungry the staff did go out their way to make us some toasties. The bar is 24 hour and literally there are people in there throughout the whole night. The security of the hostel was great. Even though we had to check out at 10, it was about half past when we came downstairs and could still get ourselves ready, and leave our luggage there until our flight that night. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone coming to Amsterdam to stay here!

~ Firstly I would actually like to commend the safety of the hostel, maybe it has improved since previous reviews. Anybody not a guest are unable to simply stroll into the hostel, as the only entrance must be buzzed open from deep behind reception by staff, who first check for proof of identity via room information (of which you keep upon your person). Large lockers are located within the rooms, free of charge (deposit of €10) and are locked secure with a key of which you are then responsible for. There are no locks on the rooms, as in my case being in a room of 18.. people need the toilet from time to time, guests come and go. It's as safe as you make it, don't want the risk then rent a locker ~

I found top bunk easy to get upon and could not complain regarding comfort. Also a frequent traveler I befriended mentioned the beds here being much comfier than other hostels they had encountered just previously.
Overall as a young person on a long weekend getaway, I enjoyed my time here. Although I didn't interact with the staff much, from what I got they are an approachable multilingual bunch of people ready to help.
Having so many guests in one place, and a bar downstairs makes for a good way of socializing and meeting new people. It's an experience.
I am returning to this hostel late November 2012. I believe that speaks for itself.

Stayed here last weekend. Was not what i was expecting to be honest. Its location is ideal. Not far from the train station and all the hotspot Amsterdam has to offer. Checked in and the reception staff were all very nice. We were asked if we wished to get a locker. Thought it wouldn't be a bad idea so we did. The locker is basically an oil barrel with a lid you can padlock. Thought they were trash barrels when i first saw them. Rooms have no locks on them was a big concern at first. Anyone can walk in to each others room. The rooms themselves are not that clean. Linen is fresh but the general state of the dorm rooms was not in good condition. Also our room was on the Third floor. With no elevator it can be a bit exhausting at times.

Down stairs there is a bar, smoking room and internet hub. The bar is nothing to write home about and generally service was quite slow despite there not being that much going on. Didn't have breakfast.

I warn all of you...do NOT stay here. This is the most unsafe hostel I have ever stayed in. Anyone could just walk through the bar up to the rooms. The rooms themselves looked like concentration camps. During my stay someone had their bags stolen from the room..meaning a stranger would have just walked straight in from the street, right past the hostel crew in the bar, straight into the rooms and back out again with someone's belongings...
Seriously can't stress how much you need to avoid this place, there are many more places along the same street that looked ten times better.

This place is cheapest in the town. Very good location. Indian guys are running this place. They are very helpful. Very cheap room, 2 Euro Breakfast and1 Euro for Internet(half hour). In breakfast you will get bread, jam, eggs, milk/coffee!
But didn't like the rooms at all. Just a bed which was not comfortable. This place is not good for couple. Their are other better places in terms of fun and comfort but little expensive though :)

Stayed there for just one night, but it was nice and clean and the spanish girl at the reception was very nice and helpful.
They also have a private bar in the ground floor, so it's a good place to meet new people.

Stayed here for a lads weekend. It's quite a cool place right in the heart of amsterdam red light. It's a perfect base. The dorm I shared with my mates was perfect - comfy bunks with toilets and showers next door. It's not somewhere I'd take my wife for a romantic break by any means but wicked for a lads weekend and really cheap too.
