“Great service, great price, clean, awesome location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2010

The entire staff of hotel and pub were extremely helpful and friendly! Helped us sort out trams and find different locals. Above a pub and a main street in the red light so they include ear plugs with your room which is a great help! The rooms are clean but small and beds not the most comfortable, but if you are in Amsterdam to sleep then you are going to the wrong place!
The pub on the first floor was great! Very nice for meeting up with friends and for having a few drinks before heading out into the city. The orange juice was delicious :)
The location was the best we have stayed in Amsterdam and will be staying here every time we go back! Literally a 5 minute walk from central station. A coffee shop was around each corner, canals and shops surrounding it.
If you are in Amsterdam for a good time and want to stay in the heart of it all this is the place to book!

Pros: Very friendly staff, no restaurant food as such but cheap snacks. Sits on top of a pub so theres beer. Very close to the train station which is why I chose it. Had a double room which was 70e. Shared shower and toilet, although right outside the door. Also security swipe card which I appreciated. Good enough for 1 night dont know i would want to stay for a few nights tho.

Cons: Room itself was pretty dodge, clean enough and all, just a bit crap looking. Also noisy as this backs onto the red light disctrict and central Amsterdam. Also they let guests smoke (whatever they want) in the rooms so the room smelt a bit.

We had a great experience at Hotel Internationaal. The staff was awesome and the bar downstairs was a blast. We were within walking distance of everything; there were tons of sights, sounds, great restaurants, etc. nearby.

We are a 30 yr old married couple who travels frequently, but likes to be comfortable.

The staircase is treacherous, but that's to be expected. The hotel is very small, which we liked - maybe 12 rooms. We stayed on the first floor and had a double bed & shared bathroom. We never had a problem w/ having to wait for the toilet or shower. Our room had a sink inside, so we were able to wash our faces/brush our teeth. The bed was comfortable, so no complaints there.

It can get a little loud at night, but the hotel provides ear plugs. :-)

All in all, we had a great stay & would definitely go back again.

We stayed in the En-Suite room on the top floor (the stairs are steep but that is just typical of Dutch buildings!).

Good spacious room, windows fully open to get fresh air into the room.

Toilet/Bathroom was new and clean with a whirlpool bath.

Excellenty location, right by Amsterdam Central station and a 5-minute walk from Dam Square.

Will be staying here again!

This hotel is fantastic for money. we booked through laterooms.com and found the hotel to be well worth the money. We only stayed in the hotel to sleep. The hotel is 2 mins from the central station from the airport and also in walking distance of everything - the shops the restaurants, red light district. recommend this hotel to anyone.

We booked this room after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. Most of them were right on the money. It's central, close to the trams and the train station. Also near shopping and restaurants and close, but not too close, to the Red Light District.
There is no elevator, so we trucked our bags up 3 flights of the narrowest stairs I've ever seen! The room was sectioned off into a bedroom, toilet room and bathroom. The bed was huge! But the pillows were lumpy and the toilet stank up our entire room. The shower flooded, but hotel staff cleaned it up almost right away.
Noise was definitely an issue, we had a hard time sleeping and there was no phone or alarm clock to help us wake up.
Would I recommend this place to my young backpacking friends? Yes. Would I recommend it to my parents? No.

The lobby is a bar. The bartenders were very nice and helpful. We stayed in a "double room". The bed was 2 singles in a double bed frame, so the two beds separate and you fall in between. The steps are very narrow and hard to get up and down, but you kinda get used to it. The shower was clean and new looking. The room though was very dark and dingey. The light was a very low wattage so it looked like a crack den. I didn't feel as though the bedroom was very clean or that I felt clean staying there. In Amsterdam, if you have the money, I'd say spend more and stay nicer. The location was very good though, about 5 mins from Central Station and right in the Red Light District.
