We really liked this place. There's no lift (well not that we knew of) so you have to deal with the narrow staircase but that's quite common in Holland- if you have large feet concentrate when you walk down the stairs- the last few steps can be the trickiest. The room was large, with a large Rembrandt painting behind our bed, and nice furnishings. The bathroom was a good size- we had room 8 with 2 large beds. The TV is old and small, and the remote was on its death bed- you practically had to stamp on it to change a channel and the woman on duty at the desk had very little interesting in trying to sort it out. Otherwise the staff was nice, as was the hotel cat- he(?) would greet me in the morning and try to follow me to my room. It's an easy 15-20 min walk to Amsterdaam Centraal and the Dam but you can also catch the tram. Albert Heijn (the supermarket) is just down the street and a good place to pick up some delicious Dutch snacks. Free wifi is, as always, very much appreciated. We didn't eat in the hotel but the dining room looked quite nice. We wouldn't hesistate to stay here again.

Room tip: If there's 3 to 4 people in the group, room 8 is a good choice. Spacious it's on the first floor, so you don't have to haul your luggage too far up the stairs.

this is a very nice and clean hotel with friendly staff. it has an excellent location; while it is in a green calm area, still you need 10 minutes to reach city centre by a tram station just in front of it. food shops and restaurants are nearby. The Amsterdam zoo and tropen museum is also in walking distance.

Stayed twice in Amsterdam in September 2012. Rooms are as advertised, small rooms are small, larger rooms are comfortably large. Windows on the back overlook the back yard of trees and small patio, front are street view, the back views being a little more pastoral, front fairly ordinary.

The rooms were quiet, functional, though the small single rooms are so small there is barely room for luggage. Washrooms are quite small as well, but again, clean and functional. The hotel on the inside looks a little scuffed and bumped on the walls, and the carpets are a little old in the hallways, but again, the rooms were clean, and importantly, I found the beds comfortable.

The hotel itself is fairly close to the City Hall, and a twenty minute walk from central station. It is close to the Zoo and museums, canals and shopping. It is about ten minutes to walk to the Dam and old Palace. The hotel is on a tramway line that goes directly to the Central Train Station.

The staff were helpful and the hotel was always quiet. Double doors were added to rooms in high traffic areas (I stayed in one and heard not a sound from the hallway, and I am typically a very light sleeper).

I will likely stay at the Hotel Rembrandt again.

Room tip: There was no question I was going to stay here, so I took the non-refundable booking and saved ten euros each evening. Larger rooms are more comfortable, small rooms are very economical but cramped.

My parents and I stayed at Hotel Rembrandt while visiting my sister during her study abroad semester. The hotel was a 5 minute walk from her dorm, and in the gorgeous Plantage area. There were great restaurants and cafes a short walk from the hotel, as well as the Dutch Resistance Museum and the Artis Zoo (both are must see's!). The staff was accommodating, generous, and nice. The room was much larger than other European hotels I've stayed in, with cute decor and a clean bathroom. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Amsterdam.

Stairs were tricky to get luggage up and down, but it seemed par for the course in the city. Overall excellent stay!!
