“Great Location, Average Place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2011

I was booked into the All Seasons with my 13 and 15 year old kids but when we arrived they had overbooked and put me here. In someways the location was much better, it is a short walk from a large supermarket and then probably another ten minutes to downtown and also the tram lines. So that worked well. The lady on reception was very helpful when we arrived.

We stayed in room 106 on the ground floor, it has four beds and was a good size. he shower was fairly basic but OK. My only concern was security as it had two large glass doors out onto a yard at the back of the hotel. But we had no problems while we stayed there.

However this room was right next to the Kitchen and a "fan", so at 6am we were typically woken up and i found it hard to get back to sleep.

We didn't eat here so I cannot comment on that. There is parking next door that is 28 Euros a day, which i thought was a lot, but i guess London would have been more.

All in all the location made this a very practical stay, but it was nothing grand.

This hotel is not more than 1 star.
I don't know how they wash the towels but there were always stains on them.
the toilet wasn't very clean and the tiles on the wall smelled of pee.
The beds were very uncomfortable and I had a sore back/neck every day but the worst think was that every time someone walked or opened a door on the other floors you could hear them as if they were in your room. For me it was impossible to sleep!
so this is the hotel: noisy, stinky and dirty!

Room was clean and nicely decorated, not very spacious but very good for a couple.
Staff were very helpfull. Overall, very good for a 3 stars rating.

Reasonable price for a hotel just 10 minutes walk from Dam Sqaure, with several local supermarkets and cafes which is handy. My single room and bed were pretty small (more like a ships cabin really) but that is not unusual for Amsterdam. As a bonus, though, the hotel has a lift! The room was very clean and well decorated with plenty of storage space for a solo traveller, plus a kettle, powerful hot shower and a decent sized TV. The lack of air conditioning could be a problem for some in Summer, but I just left my window open and wasn't concerned. The breakfast was typical Amsterdam fare: cheese, hams, yoghurt, cereal, eggs etc served from 7-10 in a large dining area. Would certainly recommend it for a budget traveller taking ashort break, and will be back.

Room Tip: Expect the single rooms to be small but clean.

I would never stay in this hotel again even if it was free. it was terrible. staff awful, rooms awful, noise awful but food ok. the bath shower screen. the bath screen was fitted of the bath. (what a joke) the toilet was fitted in the middle of the bathroom. the smell came back up the basin waste.
IT WAS A DIVE.

Room Tip: dont stay here

Rooms:

Generally the rooms were quite small – especially if you are in the rooms on the side of the building with room 109, 209, 309 etc. To be honest they were a bit too small for two people sharing. However, the rooms on the other side with room 104, 204, 304, etc weren’t too bad.

Cleanliness:

Overall, the rooms and bathrooms were fine. Given that we new it was a 3 star hotel we had no complaints. To a minor extent the hotel could do with a bit of redecoration – but nothing to get worked up about.

Bathrooms:

Compact but clean – shower / bath gel and shampoo supplied. Towels clean and fresh. Showers were very powerful (excellent)

Beds:

Very comfortable with clean white sheets.

Breakfast:

Continental breakfast (normal) . No problems at all.

Hotel Location:

Tram 9 from Central Station to Waterlooplein or 15 minutes walk from Central Station and Dam Square. Supermarket 2 mins walk (very handy). Café/Restaurant 2 mins walk (again very handy)

Room Tip: Ask for side of hotel with Rooms 104, 204,304,etc

Good location within 15min walk from central station. Reception staff very helpful. Room was clean and modern. I had a single room which was on the small side with a compact en-suite, but as it was only base to sleep, it didn't matter. Would definately stay here again.
