“Great location, great rooms - Would highly recommend!”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

We visited the hotel as a group of 6, we had one quad room, and a double. Both rooms were extremely clean and well designed. Couldn't fault them. Breakfast is simple, but decent. The location is brilliant and for the price, I am not sure you could get better for your money - the hotel really is great!

If you are visiting Amsterdam, I would highly recommend staying at The Poet Hotel!

We booked at the Poet Hotel in Dec 2012 and stayed in the family room, which sleeps 4 people comfortably. One queen size bed and two sleeper beds. The rooms are decorated with a modern touch which is also visible in the reception area and breakfast room. Wonderful breakfast with a large variety of cheeses, bread etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely reccommend this hotel to any person looking to stay for a short while or even a long while, I could live there I enjoyed it so much. It is 100m from the tram 2 & 5 stop Hobbeman. Which made traveling very easy even from the airpoirt with our luggage.

Room Tip: The family room is much larger than the standard double rooms, we were four, but I would recommend i...

This hotel is ideally situated for those who want to visit the heart of Amsterdam as well as benefit from its rich cultural attractions. It is a stone's throw away from the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum (both reopening in 2013 after refurbishment) and 8 minutes walk from the Concertgebouw. Amsterdam is eminently a city to be visited on foot along with the canal cruises (again only a few minutes away from the hotel). The most attractive and unspoilt quarter is the Jordaan which can be reached in 15 minutes on foot. And if you are feeling footsore, just jump on a tram! The hotel staff are very pleasant and, like almost everyone in Amsterdam, speak good English. But, beware, this is a hotel for younger people: the stairs are very steep if the lift isn't working and the bedrooms are very narrow with double beds against the wall which makes it difficult for the person on that side to get out in the night. Breakfast is something of a free-for-all with not enough room when everyone turns up at the same time. So, fine for younger people on a budget, but less so for older folk like us who are beginning to creak a little and need our comforts.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor (European style) are the best bet in case the lift breaks down, as the stai...

This accommodation is satisfactory for the price range, but I couldn't help feeling that there was nothing special about it. The internet is charged, not a high price, but I feel that in the 21st century that any charge is gouging.

The rooms are acceptably clean, but not spotless. Buffet breakfast is okay.

The hotel is very close to tram route 2 or 5, so don't be nervous about being a little bit out of centre. Museumplein canalbus stop is very near.

Great location, close to everything! High end designer outlets very near by. Quiet street. Small rooms, clean, modern decor. Really comfy bed. Too many stairs as the lift is out but after 5 days, my butt is a firmer. Breakfast is ok.

Room Tip: Stairs at the entrance. Near to supermarket if you want fresh fruits etc, none for breakfast. Chec...

Small, quiet and quaint hotel, easy access to trams to city centre. Clean though small rooms, friendly staff. Ideal base to visit the city. No evening meal provision but not a problem as large plaza nearby (5 mins walk) has numerous restaurants and bars. Would have no problem re-booking.
