As others have said, this hotel is perfectly located for visiting the Rijksmuseum, van Gough Museum and Vondel park. Its on a quiet, leafy street and close to some up-market shopping, if that's your thing.
The staff were uniformly helpful and informative.
The (single) room - 1a - unfortunately was tiny; possibly the smallest I have ever experienced, ever. There comes a point when a hotel room ceases to be functional and this tested the limit. Ditto for the bathroom. This isn't so much of an issue if you are only there for 1 or 2 nights, as I was, but it would be impractical to stay here for more than that. I'm sure other rooms are larger.
There was no air-con, as I expected and a small fan, and an open window onto the nice back garden area provided cooling.
I will forever be grateful that when I asked about restaurants, they had The Seafood Bar on the map. Not far away, this is a fantastic seafood (naturally) restaurant.
Overall, once I got over the shock of the size of the room, the stay was very enjoyable. I would go back, but would make sure that the room was a more conventional size.
