“Perfect Location and Great Coffee”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2014

This was in a best location, right by Dam Square. Everything we wanted to see was right in walking distance! Easy walk from Central Station. We loved it. The rooms were small and very basic, but just what we needed. The breakfast had some good options and the coffee was great. The staff was very friendly.

10 minute walk over cobblestoned streets from the station - just so easy. Superb service from reception staff. Small room but you are in the centre of Amsterdam. We loved the breakfast -loads of variety and lots of chocolate pieces and chocolate spread for my toast - I was in heaven. A light and airy eating are. For a three star hotel we thought the ROH Hotel was excellent

When dropped of at the RHO Hotel we could not believe how close we were to Dam Square and the City. Then we came to our first hurdle. We had to struggle with our baggage up stairs to get to reception. There were a number of staff in reception but no one helped us. After checking in we found our room on the 4th floor to be shocked by the size. So small, barely wider than our bed. The room was clean and tidy, bed was good and after our initial snub by staff we found them helpful.

Room Tip: Great location but try for a larger room.

I Have Stayed 2 Nights recently in RHO Hotel and I have mixed feelings about it . The Hotel Location is great ! Everything was just a walking distance Shops, Historical buildings and the famous nightlife district . My room was on the forth floor a tiny little room with a very basic furnishing and accessories . The WIFI signal was always out of the reach in my room but on the ground floor was working just fine ! The lift was too slow in the busy hours was better to take the stairs . The Breakfast was OK ! Hotel reception staff was very friendly and helpful . My advice would be please do not keep a dog at the reception as I am and other future guests can be allergic to dog hair . The big question is would I stay or would I recommend to anyone to stay here , I am sure there are better hotels in Amsterdam in this price range !

Room Tip: If WIFI is important to you to have good signal in the room , stay no higher than the second floor !

There are some good things and there are some not so good ones.

Pros: central location, parking available. Yes, that's all...

Cons:
The room was tiny. And by tiny, I mean as small as a box. Never before have we stayed in such a confined space. And there was almost no natural light. The hotel itself is a mix of a few buildings, and maybe that's the reason why half the corridors and stairs make no sense, and you MUST use the elevators or you risk getting lost - not fun.
The bathroom was dated. And not just "old but nice and looked after", but more like "refurbishment needed asap!". The bathtub did not hold water, tiles needed some good cleaning at least, the ceiling in the room had water spots... I can go on like this for a while.
Breakfast was good, average, not impressive.

As a bottom line, we'll be back to Amsterdam, the city is great. But we definitely will be staying somewhere else. Not worth the money for what you get at RHO...

First and foremost, this hotel we found to very conveniently located as it's very close to everything. It's also walkable from the main train station, even with luggage. We had a bit of a mishap with checking in but once one of the clerks looked into whole situation it was resolved to my satisfaction. We paid very reasonable rates and also included breakfast (nothing special - I'm pretty sure the eggs were powder eggs but a "free" breakfast is always a bonus). We had a double room and whilst it was simple, for 2 people, the room itself was quite spacious. There is no tea/coffee provided in the room although I believe this can be purchased from the machine on the ground floor near the elevator. The elevator took us to our level, but from there we found that we had to climb additional stairs to get to our room. This wasn't a massive issue for us but if you have a bad back and heavy luggage, I can't imagine anyone being too ecstatic on seeing stairs with no other way to get to your room. Also, probably worth mentioning that the elevator is very slow so we found taking the stairwell to be faster. Just keep in mind that stairs in Amsterdam are typically very narrow and the stairs at this hotel do no deviate from that!

Room Tip: Request for a room that can be accessed by lift only (no additional stairs).

The Rho Hotel is located in the centre of Amsterdam and is ideally located if you don't mind the noise as Amsterdam people stay up very late It is a very old hotel with no air conditioning. Our room faced a alley and because of no air conditioning we opened up the window which made it very noisy. Breakfast was included but we had an early flight, so they did pack a breakfast packages with sandwiches, apple, drink, chocolate bar so that was considerate of them. The staff were very friendly. It is a 3 star hotel and if you like the area, this would be suitable for you. We personally would choose another one if we came back to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Ask for a not facing the alley if possible.
