“Simply the Best”

We spent four nights (NYE) in RHO Hotel and it was amazing! The hospitality, cleanliness, location and most importantly how welcoming and helpful the staff are (especially Christian) were outstanding. We highly recommend it for anyone wanting a location in the city center near all destination. The staff will make sure they help you with directions and tourism advices.

Cheers

The Rho Hotel is in a fantastic location, close to shopping, excellent restaurants and only a short walk to the station. The lobby is very impressive and the front desk staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. Service was also speedy and pleasant. Our fridge wasn't working when we arrived and within ten minutes it had been replaced. The hotel breakfast offers a large selection of delicious hot and cold dishes and was included in our room rate. However, having just stayed in two extremely nice hotel rooms (at lower rates) in Brugges and Paris, we were a little disappointed in our room at the Rho. It had everything we needed, but it was reminiscent of a North American budget motel room.

I usually start my reviews by asking myself what I didn't like about a particular hotel, then marking it down from there, but being perfectly honest there was nothing much I could find fault with at this hotel.

From our arrival to leaving a couple of days later our stay here was made very pleasant. We arrived in Amsterdam and had walked from the station to the Rho Hotel by around 11am after an early flight and then a train ride from the airport. We only popped into the hotel so early to ask if we could leave our bags there to save us having to carry them around with us until 2pm - the hotel's official earliest booking in time. The hotel do offer this service free of charge but as it turned our we were told our rooms were ready, so we could take the bags straight up if we wished. As we had a late flight back on our day of departure the hotel did let us leave the bags there all day while we wondered about the city and visited the Anne Frank house.

The rooms we had were quite basic but very clean with no nasty smells as we've experienced in previous city centre hotels. Staff were always polite and very helpful during our stay. It's location just up a quiet side street off Dam Square is perfect - right in the heart of where there's a lot going on with plenty of bars and restaurants etc. However, once you walk up the little side street to the hotel it's very quiet with not a lot of noise spilling over from the nearby square, so there's no noteable noise to disturb guests at night, it also felt quite safe to wander around here after dark.

The location is also perfect for visiting the city's attractions, there are no long hikes to get to anywhere of interest and it's not even that far to walk from the station. You come out of the front of the old station building, and a steady stroll in a straight line for about 10 / 15 mins will bring you to Dam Square.

The breakfast at the hotel was excellent, we all enjoyed it very much & it was included in the room price as well which is a plus. It consisted of a varied choice of buffet food, from continental style to a full egg and bacon breakfast - or a mixture of both if desired. Very impressive and the staff running the breakfast room were very pleasant and helpful.

There's no real bar as such in the hotel, but there is a small area that you can sit with a drink where reception staff double up as barpeople, so at busy times there could be a wait to be served but that is about the only negative thing I can find to say about this nice hotel and it's being extremely picky . In reality there's a good little bar just around the corner so there's no need to drink at the hotel anyway. There are also lots of good eating places nearby, hence there being no reason to have a restaurant in the hotel

The Rho Hotel used to be a gold exchange, then later became a theatre so it has a bit of history attached to it, there are photos of it in it's heyday in what passes as the 'bar' area. The nicely restored reception is what was once obviously the trading hall then the auditorium of the theatre - the boxes can still be seen there if you tilt your head back a bit and look upwards.

I'd have absolutely no qualms about staying at this lovely hotel again - in fact we may doing so in the not too distant future as we're considering another trip to this fantastic city, maybe in Springtime.

Room Tip: Look out for the bicycles and trams in Amsterdam, they're lethal - especially the bicycles!

Stayed in this hotel with a group of friends, first day a friend had money and his mobile phone taken from the room, when reported to reception he was told they couldn't do anything! The hotel is tired and needs a good clean, the chairs and curtains in our room had stains on them. The free wifi does not work for the majority of the time. Only good thing about this hotel is it's location but even that would not make me stay in this hotel.

This is not a first-class business hotel, but for the price and the excellent central location, it is absolutely ok. It is clean and has everything you need. Not the largest breakfast buffet you have ever seen, but completely adequate. And they serve REAL orange juice, not the kind of yellow lemonade you get in many hotels finer than this. They also know how to make scrambled eggs, not the egg pudding you get in many places.

All in all, it is a three star hotel, and as such, it does what it should.

Stayed here for four nights. The hotel is huge, with a cavernous lobby that never had more than two people in it. The hotel's location is great: 15 minute walk from Central Station, 100 feet off Dam Square. My room was clean and adequate but on the spartan side, with blond, modular ikea-type furniture. Bathroom had been recently updated with good-size tiled, shower.
Complimentary breakfast was better than most, and large dining room with many single tables meant there was always a place to sit.
Staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again on biz, but this place is far from cozy otherwise, unless you're yearning to recapture dormitory life.

The location of this hotel is very central yet is tucked away on a side street so had a lovely peaceful nights sleep. Loved the look and feel of the hotel. Beautiful lobby. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Nothing felt too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely. Only issue with breakfast was that we couldn't find any teaspoons. Rooms nice and spacious. Stayed in room 211. Only problem with the room was no tea/coffee making facilities! Will definitely stay here again.

Thank you RHO for a lovely stay.
