“Good location, keep hold of duvet!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights at end of May 2013 and overall we would recommend the hotel. On the positive side, the location is great (10 mins to Central Station, 15 mins to museums, 30 seconds to Dam Square) the room we had was a good size and the shower cubicle was huge by most hotel standards with plenty of hot water!
We went for breakfast at around 8.30 each day and for 2 days all was well with plentiful supplies of the standard fare (cereal, toast, ham, cheese, bacon, scrambled egg etc) and enough tables to go round. HOWEVER, on third day (Friday morning) there was a big queue and it took 15 minutes to be seated and the staff were obviously struggling to cope with demand. It was a smaller breakfast that day as there was very little choice left, (1 type of bread, no croissants etc).
Although we had requested a double room we had 2 twin beds pushed together with a single duvet for each without sheets. The duvet kept disappearing during the night!
Due to the location close to Dam square there was some noise from rowdy people late at night, however, we did not find this too excessive, but it may be a problem as the weather gets better.

Room Tip: We booked early and pleasantly received a 10% discount upon arrival

We stayed for just the one night but we were very impressed.
Staff are very friendly and helpful - 24 hour reception
Breakfast is buffet but very basic - steaky bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, bread and cold continental
Location is fab - literally on Dam Square. If you look at any pic of the Monument with the Palace behind you - the hotel can be seen in the top right corner of the Square
10 minute walk from the Station and Rembrandtplein where there are a wide range of bars.
10 minutes further near the Vondelpark is the Hard Rock - a staple on all our trips abroad

Room Tip: Don't get one on the back of the hotel - its well used by rent boys!!!!

Stayed three nights. Very easy to get to from the station .... A few minutes walk and easy to find . Having read other reviews I had e mailed and requested a quiet room ... We were on the fourth floor at the back with a view of roof tops and the church tower and it was very quiet . Basic room but spotless and the bed was confortable. Breakfast on the first morning was chaotic with lots of uncleared tables and no mugs for coffee but this was just a blip ..... Ten minutes later the crowds had cleared and the tables were tidy ...the other two mornings were fine and the choice is excellent.... The fresh loaf of brown bread was delicious . A short walk to Anne Frank's House and the canals and a tram ride to the Riijks Museum ... It was pouring and the reception staff gave advice on catching a tram . An excellent hotel for a city break which doesn't break the bank.

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet ask for a room high up at the back

We stayed one night in this hotel, that has a perfect location in the very centre of the city. We felt very welcome when we arrived thanks to the nice man in the reception. The main entrance hall is very beautiful, I think it used to be a cinema.
Our room was very small but functional, even though it was a bit strange with the only window in the end of a corridor by the bathroom. The window was facing a very quiet back-alley so it was very quiet even though we were in the middle of the city.
Breakfast was very good and if you don't intend to spend a lot of time in your hotelroom I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to stay close to everything.

3 nights. Staff at check-in were great. Rooms were good size but a bit characterless. Huge shower room. Queen bed came with 2 separate doonas, single size, which we found odd, but discovered that it is quite common in some parts of Europe. No tea or coffee making in the room. Breakfast was good, no fried eggs, but selection of everything else supplied. Very busy on weekends, you may have to queue for a while. Great location. Just put on your walking shoes and you can cover all the sights. Great bars and Restaurants everywhere closeby .Not a bad Hotel but can be a bit expensive so do your research.

I stayed at the Rho hotel as a single traveller from Friday 24th May until Monday 27th, both dates inclusive.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, edge of Dam square, 2 minutes walk to Madame Tussards, 4 minutes walk to the RLD, 8 minutes walk to the Anne Frank house, 10 minutes walk from Central station, 5 minutes walk to canal boat trips and surrounded by 'millions' of restaurants and shops.
I stayed in a single bedded room on the 1st floor, close to the elevator and overlooking an inner courtyard, away from any street noise and got a really good nights sleep. The room was ensuite with bath and shower connected to the bath tap block, much better than my electric shower at home. There was a safe, fridge and LCD television in the room. The bed and pillow were really comfortable - wish I could have taken them home.
The buffet breakfast, which was served from 7am to 10:30am was excellent, with cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, tinned fruit salad, yoghurt, cooked meat, cheese, pastries, jams, orange juice, tea and coffee etc. Fill up here and you won't want anything until your evening meal.

Room Tip: At the time of booking, politely ask for the type of room you would like, ie quite room away from st...

We arrived in Amsterdam befor boarding a Viking cruise down the Rhine. The hotel has an excellent location and the staff there were very professional.
The only downside is the noise in the evening. Since the location is so good, there are many restaurants and bars in the area and the noise not only carries, but is amplified if your room faces out over an alley.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the front of the hotel.
