My wife and I went to Amsterdam for a long weekend, for the first time, we had researched as usual. Hotel Sint Nicholaas turned out to be a good choice, The train station is easily accessible at the airport and trains run every 10minutes to Amsterdam central. We bought return tickets which was easy to do, We had down loaded directions from Amsterdam central to hotel Sint Nicholass, which was very easy to follow, probably took about 15 minutes to walk to the hotel, You have to learn to do your green cross code in reverse, there are hundreds of cyclists, plus trams, cars and taxi's so you need to be alert
The hotel staff where very helpful, we had a room on the fourth floor, which was small, but clean and tidy, we couldn't operate the room safe, I informed the staff at reception and he came immediately and fixed it, its use is free. The breakfast was a typical continental, we found it quite substantial,
We could hear the trams running by when we had the window open, and not too bad when the window was closed, this hotel is very central so it is to be expected, but did not bother us, we had a flat screen t.v which got bbc1 and itv, the the tram frequency lessened as the evening went on, I don't know if they ran through the night because once we where asleep nothing woke us.
There was free use of the internet, we didn't use it but other guests did.
We did a lot of walking, visited Ann Franks house, very moving, a couple of art galleries, the flower market is worth a visit, Lots of tulip bulbs, The red light district is worth a visit, the girls seemed friendly, waving at me, good for the ego, I had read you are not to photograph the girls, I saw one young man doing this and when the girl saw him she went banana's banging on the window, In truth you can see more on a beach than you do here,
On the whole the hotel is well situated, they have a room to store your luggage when you check out if you are not going straight to the airport and want to do some last minute sight seeing, our flight wasn't until late in the evening, so we went to one of the parks and got some rays as the sun was out.

Room Tip: Ideal for a long weekend

I have stayed several times. Like the short walk from the Centraal station. Like to get their big "3 person" spacious rooms as they give so much space. Adequate beds and private shower, and nice flat screen TV. This hotel is close to every kind of activity Amsterdam has to offer - use your imagination! Good value for the size of the rooms and proximity the :fun" of q Am,sterdaam,

Having read hundreds of reviews here for different hotels we finally settled upon this one.

The hotel has a great location, 5 minutes walk to central station and on a great tram line.

The rooms are stylish, perhaps a tad faded but not to the point of disappointing. The bathroom was very well presented too.

Beds were very comfortable, but in a triple room facing the tramline, placing a bed under the window made for a noisier than normal night of sleep, again not to the point of disruption.

Breakfast was a continental affair, well presented and included in the room price. Staff were very helpful, English speaking and played well to our sense of humour.

Overall an enjoyable stay, the location was perfect and the experience very good. If you're struggling to decide and the price is right, go for this one, chances are you won't be disappointed.
