“Crêpes /pancakes for breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

Wonderful family-run hotel, friendly, service. Our room had a small balcony and beautiful view for the three of us. My daughter and I almost turned down the delicious homemade"pancakes" but we were glad we tried them they were so tasty. Walking distance to museums. We would definitely stay here again.

This was the best decision that I could have made; a small, quiet location in the middle of culture. In a very short period of time, I learned to ride the tram (right around the corner), walked to the museums, and felt very comfortable and safe. I relaxed and refreshed. The breakfast was just enough to get me going, but not enough to weigh me down. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and helpful.

Room Tip: Great place for someone traveling solo and doesn't need a lot of room.

We stayed at Hotel Fita based on the TA reviews. Other reviews have noted it is more like a B&B and this is a reasonable comment. This is not a negative, simply an observation.

Our room was very good, although showing its age a little. We arrived in Amsterdam in the middle of a heat wave - no air conditioning meant the ceiling fans got a good workout. The double bed was actually two single beds pushed together with a significant gap in the middle - this seems to be a common practice in European hotels.

The location is brilliant - in a quiet street, but close to multiple trams and a seven iron away from the key museums, something greatly appreciated when we slept in on our first morning, for our booked time slot at the Van Gogh Museum.

The highlight of this hotel is the service - incredibly helpful and absolutely faultless.

Hotel Fita is a terrific option for the tourist in Amsterdam.

We stayed at Hotel Fita for two nights and had a fabulous stay. The service was excellent, the room was spacious, the breakfast was delicious. We were able to easily get around using the trams or walking and they provided lots of tips on places to see. The owners were very friendly and the service exceeded our expectations.

This is truly a family run hotel. Vey special. Room was a bit on the small side but vey comfy. Excellent location hidden in a beautiful tree lined street. Very close to trams and walking distance to major sights. Just around the corner from van gogh museum. Easy to get to from the train station. The breakfast was very nice especially with their speciality of home made pancakes ....very delicious ....the only downside was no air conditioning, our room was very hot. Other than that loved it.

I arrived after my river cruise and was warmly greeted. My room was available so check-in was swift and easy. My room was a single on the second floor with a balcony. When I was ready to explore, the map they gave me included info on the trams and how to get around in the city. I was fascinated with the canals, museums and shops that I did not use the trams at all. Breakfasts were fantastic. Loved the pancake! They even ordered the taxi for me to get to the airport. I will not hesitate to stay there again!

We arrived at the end of our cruise in the early morning hours at Hotel Fita. We were greeted by Roel who had an infectious smile that brighten up the whole room. He allowed us to leave our bags and assured us he would take our bags to our room once it was ready. He gave some helpful tips on canal tours and restaurants. We stayed in a large double room which was tastefully decorated and had a queen bed which was very comfortable . We did hear some noise from the school yard early in the morning but weren't bothered by it as we had ear plugs. We were expecting a room with a balcony but did not stay most of the day in the room so it did not bother us. The staff did an excellent job of keeping our rooms clean and tidy during our 4 nights stay there. The breakfast has an excellent choice of fruits, croissants, bread, eggs, bacon, coffee and especially the delicious Dutch pancakes. I had the honor of watching the pancakes get made. Most hotels do not have an elevator in Amsterdam and we were lucky enough to find a hotel with a small one for our luggage. The stairs are steep but not that many of them that you could not use the stairs to up and down. The soap dispenser in the washroom was not easy to dispense but we had our own bar of soap. The cleaning staff did an excellent job of cleaning our room on our 4 night stay here and I cannot say enough about the helpfulness and friendliness of the entire staff. This hotel is centrally located and close to museums and transportation. This is truly a neighborhood gem and I would recommend everyone who is visiting Amsterdam to stay at Hotel Fita.

Room Tip: choose a room away from school courtyard or bring earplugs or you will hear a lot of noise in the a...
