The hotel is a small gem in a good location of Amsterdam.

All staff were down to earth and looked after us well.

The pancakes made for you at breakfast were a highlight of the stay.

Also provided us good tips on restaurants in the town and local area that the locals frequent.

Rooms are simple and double Bed was 2 singles put together.

Some noise also from other rooms.

Having said that the people who run the place are brilliant and I'd stay again for just for how accommodating and nice they were.

Great hotel, relatively cheap, hotel personnel very helpful proving hints and tips on what to visit! Good location as next to van gogh museum and short walking distance to the centre. However March was very cold this year. If you want to see the tulips in the famouest park go during 15th-25th April.

After more then 40 visits in Amsterdam we found the best hotel there and it's "only" 3 stars...
The service was awesome (6 stars). We stayed for 4 nights and to say the truth it was worth every cent (or in my case every Norwegian Crown).
For the first time ever and not just in the Netherlands,we met an owner that really want to serve
you and to make you feel wanted and welcomed ! The family that own that hotel seems to understand the value of each tourist who come to stay there! and this is very rare.
The location is great, near the main museums,in a quite street and with great communications near by. The hotel doesn't have own parking place but we didn't have much problem to find a parking place in the street just in the front of the hotel.
As far as i know the hotel got 2 kinds of rooms,12 Kvm and 24 Kvm. We had the 24 Kvm which showed to be the best even if it cost more. and we didn't regret it !
The room was clean and we enjoyed also the coffee maker that was provided, perfect!
Breakfast was great, with some Dutch specialty as Dutch pancakes and of course it's all included in the price for the hotel.
The only thing that we missed was that they didn't have any fridge in the room for cold drinks.
Now at last i've got "my" hotel in Amsterdam.and once again thank you for making our visit unforgettable!

Room Tip: Choose the big rooms! you won't regret it

We arrived in the early afternoon and were pleased that our rooms were ready for us. With it snowing outside that was welcome news! Our stay was made so pleasant by Roel and all the staff, who supplied us with terrific recommendations for restaurants and how to find our way to the sights we wanted to see. For anyone who feels that the Hotel Fita doesn't offer good value, I have to comment that we looked extensively online to find accommodations that didn't break the bank and Hotel Fita was quite reasonable compared to others. The hotel's location worked incredibly well for our party of four and we would stay there again if we return to Amsterdam. As for the breakfast, cleanliness of the rooms, etc., others have written well on those subjects.

We chose this hotel for our first trip to Amsterdam based on the good reviews on Trip Advisor, however this time we were disappointed. We agree with some of the earlier reviews that the hotel is overrated. Many of the positive reviews are from Americans and Canadians who, maybe, are impressed by the small-world charm, friendliness of the staff, and the narrow spiral staircases.

The hotel is in a great location just a 30 minute bus ride from the airport (no 197) and only costs 4 euros each. It is very close to the main "designer" shop street - if you go for that sort of thing and there are museums in the vicinity. The rooms are very clean and the bed comfortable and the heating was superb bearing in mind we were there during the coldest March for many years. There was a narrow wardrobe in our double room but there was a lack of drawer space for T-shirts/jumpers/underclothes etc so we had to use our suitcases.

There is an espresso coffee machine on the desk in the room, but there wasn't an electrical socket close by to plug it in. They gave us 4 coffee pods for our 5 day stay but that was all we got for the two us!!! At 169 euros a night we expected these to be provided daily.

The shower over the bath worked fine and there was no problem with hot water.

The service at breakfast was in our experience one of the worst we have encountered anywhere. The breakfast consisted of: cereals (of which there were plenty), however every thing else - fruit juices, cheeses, bread rolls, butter, scrambled eggs, sliced tomatoes were not always available when we came down for breakfast. Every day we had to ask for most things - there was a heated dish for the scrambled eggs but it was always empty, and when the bread rolls were all gone (because he never baked enough) you had to wait 15mins for him to bake some more. There were 2 wedges of cheese but no knife to slice them. Having said all that, the quality of the food was good.

This is nothing more than a typical UK "Guest House" or Bed & Breakfast and doesn't warrant the 169 euros a night price tag.

What can u expect ? A hotel with great service, wonderful breakfasts (included), authenticity all the way to the narrow and winding staircase( there is an elevator) several blocks from the museums and 5 minute walk to the shops, restaurants and canal cruise! If u like to take a tour the tour office is 5 minutes walk and if u want to take a tram it's also 5 minutes. The room I stayed in was 16 and was perfect for a solo traveller - if u want a marriot then u may not like this! I prefer charming and authentic

I checked in late during a weekday but they were more than happy to receive me. There IS a lift - no need to worry about lifting bags up narrow and steep staircases. The hotel is situated in what I considered to be an ideal location - easy and inexpensive via public transit to/from the airport (took about 40 minutes from the airport to the hotel). Roel and the staff were exceedingly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Amsterdam is an eminently walkable city and the location of Hotel Fita (about 5 minutes from the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum) is excellent. They upgraded my room when I arrived - I wouldn't necessarily expect this - I think it happened because they could because of it being shoulder season. The rooms are clean, the beds firm, the shower had excellent water pressure. Great breakfast and a very cute trust bar (a stock of wines/beers that occupants have access to and are asked to let staff know if they availed themselves of it). Overall an excellent experience! I highly recommend it.
