“Really good fun”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

Don't go expecting luxury at this place but come on, it's a city break so you just need a bed & a shower. I had a triple room which had a set of bunks, a single & a really small shower room but it was ample for 1-2 nights. The breakfast was great & the bar really reasonably priced. The best tip I can give is about getting there, get out the back of Central Station & you should see Subway, the free public transport ferries run from the left of there so go to the fourth one along to the left (should say NDSM on the front) They run every 15 mins during the day & (I think) 30 mins during the evening & you can then see the Boatel on route. Just don't forget (as I did) that you are on a boat & it does move :)
Was good fun & getting there and back on the ferry added you the experience!

Room Tip: A Sea view as opposed to the quay view is nicest

The Botel was exactly what we expected, very clean rooms (small-ish but perfectly fine), very friendly and helpful staff, great views over the water, convenient free ferry to take you over to Amsterdam, and very nice breakfast. Would definitely recommend it as good value for money and on our next trip to Amsterdam, when we will be bringing our 13 year old son, we will definitely stay here again. The only downside, a pretty limited choice of snacks served - but again, very good value for money and we knew the limited choice in advance.

Room Tip: Our room was 420 which was very good. I don't think there was too much noise or disturbance any...

You get what you see in the pictures: the hotel is quiete old and not refreshed, the room we had was annoyed by the music bar from the first floor.
It was a small room (really too much small) with a dust smell.
Its funny to sleep on an old boat like that, but after 2 nights I was really full of its downsides.

Reaching the center of Amsterdam is the only positive thing: its free and quiete fast.
Theres also a big free parking in case you come there by car like me.

I would not raccomend it for long range staying.

Room Tip: first floor (floor numbered as 3) is to avoid if rooms are in the middle. They will be annoyed by th...

Very basic, could have been cleaner for the price you pay, expensive for the distance from the city but they bus when the free transport stops at night, otherwise if your just looking for a place to sleep it serves its purpose. Bar was okay, pillows and duvets could were quite flat though. Good for a trip with friends not really a couples stay over unless you just want basic!

stayed here as part of a topdeck tour so I knew the quality wasn't going to be great. The room was small - I had to balance my suitcase on a chair at the end of my bed while my roommate put her suitcase between our beds just so we could both move from our beds to the bathroom/door. I felt extremely confined in the bathroom and with no ventilation, I could barely breathe after any amount of hot water was used in there. the bed was adequate enough to sleep at least but could have done with a better pillow (or an extra one) and having a window open helped keep us cool, but that allowed the mozzies in. being at the end of the botel, I felt a lot of the movement. The good thing about it was the ease of access into the city using the free ferry.

after reading some of the bad reviews we were a little afraid but everything was OK. We stayed one night, nice people at the reception, clean beds, clean bathroom, all very small but that is normal on a boot, quiet night, free transport to downtown ok, and free parking, breakfast ok, no complaints, we will come back.

This is a really good place to stay. It is quite basic but very clean good breakfast and really friendly helpful staff. The ferry was a little difficult to find at first but once you know where your going its fab. The Ferry is located at the rear of the Central train station - as you come out of the doors cross the road there are 3 ferry ports you need the furthest one. It runs every half hour. I would recommend this hotel we had a fantastic weekend.
