This is a really good place to stay. It is quite basic but very clean good breakfast and really friendly helpful staff. The ferry was a little difficult to find at first but once you know where your going its fab. The Ferry is located at the rear of the Central train station - as you come out of the doors cross the road there are 3 ferry ports you need the furthest one. It runs every half hour. I would recommend this hotel we had a fantastic weekend.

Having stayed at the botel before, stupidly, I did no research before booking so had no idea it has been moved to the north of the city!!! This means instead of being 5 mins walk to central station you now have to get a 15 min ferry across. Initially I was really disappointed about this however it turned out to be fab - it's a much quieter location and the ferries are great (and free!). The direct ferry finishes just before midnight but when this finishes there s a ferry all night to the other side of the river and a shuttle bus back to the hotel. The rooms are basic but very clean, the bathroom is really small but again, very clean and to be fair, has everything you need!! The service is very good and friendly and considering how much they charge the breakfast was also great. Cheap and cheerful, it does what is says on the tin and if you don't mind the ferry, a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Staying on one of the top floors and facing the river seems to e the quietest rooms

Went there for 4 nights and the room was lovely and clean but the walls bit thick and you could heard the music from the bar because we above room but bar closed at 1245 which grateful for us cos don't want music on all night! Staff were friendly and spoken English well. Breakfast buffet was great but no hot vegetarian meal, only have salad, yoghurt, cornflakes, croissant, wholemeal toast, bean which is great cos good selection of vegetarian. Price of the bar are not bad. They are 4 restaurants opposite the Botel which not far to walk.

Staying on a boat is a unique experience so I really enjoyed that part of my stay. When we arrived the member of staff who checked us in was very helpful and friendly. However, we asked for a double room and they were none left so had to have a twin bed room which was disappointing. The rooms are basic but clean (a very small bathroom!). Another thing that was slightly annoying is that the walls are very thin so you can hear everything the next room is saying and on the first night there was a man snoring very loudly.
The breakfast is good and I enjoyed the orange juice very much. Not much choice in cereals as that's all I really eat but I'm just picky.
Overall this is a good hotel to stay at if you're looking for something cheap. It's really easy to get to, you just have to catch the free ferry from Central Station that runs every 15-30 minutes. Also the staff were nice and friendly as they allowed us to keep our cases there after we checked out and they posted my postcard for me :)

Room Tip: It may be a little quieter on the water side rather than the land side.

Arrived at the Botel early morning, received a unwarm welcome from a non English speaking member of staff and no help with carrying our suitcases up a large flight of stairs. Floors were dusty and mucky and rooms were of a very standard quality. I have a bad neck and required an extra pillow, I went down to reception to request this only to have a maid SHOUT at us in Dutch and basically decline my request. A colleague of hers told me he would bring one up to the room later, 3 days on and still no pillow. The breakfast was very basic and the bacon was more fat than bacon and the yogurt had clearly gone out of date. We checked out on leaving day earlier than needed and weren't even asked if we'd had a pleasant day. They also did not allow us to leave our cases there throughout the day which I thought was poor customer service. Although the city of Amsterdam is beautiful and you'll never be stuck without something to do! Had an amazing time, if the hotel was as great as the city it would have been outstanding...but clearly not.

Stayed from 21-23 June and had a lovely stay at the Amstel Botel. My partner and I wanted a unique experience when visiting Amsterdam and by staying on the Botel we got just that! All the staff we encountered were extremely helpful in making our stay a success. Stayed on the third floor and had no problems with noise which I had read from previous reviews. To get to the Botel is easy, a ferry from the rear of Central Station which goes to NDSM werf. 10 minute journey across and they come frequently. Breakfast was a buffet style and there was plenty to choose from and was to a good standard. The room and bathroom were as we expected on a boat, small but sufficient for our needs. Only complaint we have is that we booked a double room and got a twin instead. Other than that was a pleasant stay at the Amstel Botel!
