“Great value - very small room”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

In a convenient location for the RAI centre I thought I would give it a try - no complaints re bed comfort and cleanliness but the rooms are tiny including an integral opaque glass shower / toilet - no desk or chair - just bear in mind this is for sleeping only - no work or social space
Half the price of normal Dutch chain hotels and efficiently run

I've been there for two nights.

It is a budget hotel, but not that cheap either. Everything is paid for: Wifi, TV, extra towel (you get only 1, non-replaceable), room cleaning, early check-in... these were expected, as was the small bedroom with the locked window, but the quality standards I found to be poor.

I've been there with my wife and booked this hotel just as a place to stay at night as during the day we'd be walking around the streets.

When we arrived and paid the early check-in the room was not clean at all. Walking around the room our feet got very dirty in a few minutes and the bed linen was very used and dirty. The staff was rather unimpressed and tried to charge me the cleaning fee when I asked them to clean the dirty room and change the used bed linen.
After I did some arguing at reception, we were allocated to another room, which was clean. And all went as expected, no surprises.

I'd not stay here again. The location is average as it requires a tram (not a big deal, though) to get to the city center but features the famous Cuypmarkt nearby. Also there are good markets and bakeries around. The price I paid for this hotel I could book a 3-star in city center, probably with a better service/ammenities, but as I wasn't allowed to cancel the booking paid in advance, I had to stay there.

We were in hotel for 3 nights. The room was stuffy. The bathroom was dirty, sheets was dirty. No ventilation in the bathroom!!! I was loathing touching the sink and shower. It was very unpleasant. The staff were passive and not very kind. The only possitive feedback I can say is that the chek in and out was very fast.

Room Tip: I will never stay again in Easy hotel.

My wife and I traveled here with another couple pair for a weekend get away. We knew we'd be partying and out walking most the time so we just took a cheap hotel that is somewhat close to the action. The would rate this as the perfect place to go with a group of guy friends... couples, not so much.

The good:
-Extremely cheap and clean.

The bad:
-You have to pay for the TV and internet. The times for when you want to turn it on didn't make sense (we ended up not buying it). We didn't need it anyways but it would have been nice.
-We went the week before Christmas and it was fairly cold out. I think the heater only turned on when you had the key in your room (You only had one key). So every time we went out and came back it was freezing inside and would take quite a while to warm up. This is my only major complaint but is was big enough to knock it down a rating.

If you are looking for a luxury stay, then this is not for you. The rooms are small and totally devoid of any character.
However, they are clean and comfortable which is all you really need as a base for exploring the amazing city of Amsterdam.
The hotel is in a lovely area with plenty of shops and cafes nearby. There is a cheap-ish pharmacy store just underneath the hotel (if you forget bathroom supplies or need band aids or painkillers), however the hotel provides perfectly decent hair and body wash in the shower and handwash for the sink.
The Tram 25 leaves from just outside the hotel regularly until quite late at night, and goes past Dam Sq to the train station.
TV is 5 euros for 24 hrs, but you will want it if you intend to be in the hotel for any length of time!
I agree that you do need to be reasonably well aquainted with your travel companion as the 'bathroom' is like a glass pod in the room, it is frosted glass in the shower area though.
I am not sure we would stay again as we like a bit of character to the room and would rather be closer to the action. But, this hotel is brilliant value for money!

I think this was my 3rd country that I have been staying with the easyHotels. Simple, clean, and cheap, as I always expect. But this time there were some downsides. Central air conditioning? This absolutely made me sick. It was -6 degrees outside, and only thing you can do was increase the temperature to 24 degrees. In order to shut down the air condition, you have to cut the electricity in the room. And moreover, you can't open the windows, no fresh air! Come on easyHotel, who do you think you are deceiving with optimal environmental control?! Everyone knows that air conditioning systems only circulate the air inside the room. So my major advice is don't ever stay in this hotel if you have pharyngitis, asthma or any other respiratory tract diseases.

Second lack is there is no hair dryer in the room, so don't forget to bring one, if you will stay here. Overall I can recommend this hotel to other people for shorter stays, as location it is very near to De Pijp area.

Room Tip: Don't forget to bring hair dryer. While taking the tram 25, get out at Ferdinand Boltstraat sto...

Dear frequentraveler35,

Thank you very much for your time to share your findings about easyHotel Amsterdam.

At easyHotel Amsterdam, we have installed a complete heating, cooling and ventilation system, from a leading manufacturer. This system controls all movement of air within the building, and is considered to be better for the environment than conventional alternatives. As such, in order to maintain the correct airflow in the rooms, the windows do not open. The air is changed in the rooms at a rate of 75 cubic metres per hour, ensuring fresh, clean air at all times.

So there is always fresh air in the room due to the central air flow within the building and this can be adjusted with your private air conditioning control panel. Temperatures can be set from 19 to 24 degrees.

We really hope to welcome you back in easyHotel Amsterdam when travel brings you back in the area and you don't have to bring your hairdryer with you, as these can be rented at the reception for a small fee.

Kind regards,

Danny van Spall

Quite modern very clean with a good use of space in th rooms. The hotel staff were very pleasent and smiley. It's in a very good location for the price and is well within walking distance to all of the attractions. They look far on google maps but they really aren't. There are slight disadvantages like having to pay 8 euros for 24 hrs of internet and paying to watch the tv.
