“Unique Hotel, regardless of worldwide Geography ... Fantastic”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

This hotel has everything, after having business traveled Asia (primarlily India), Europe and USA, this hotel is definetliy unique-. Atmosphere is one of a kind, and not newly build luxurury which normally is experienced by me as overdoing it without quality at the core. This hotel is not about fancy interior architect designed rooms, it is about excellent service, genuine fantastic atmosphere rooms, food is unmatched in Europe when it comes to hotel food. It seems like the staff has a genuine whish to make your stay perfect, and I think they succeed through pride and genuine service ... normally I am not impressed by hotels but this one is definetely an example of a forgotten way of making you as a guest feel special. I could not reccomend a stay more,- I would say this hotel is a one of a kind in Europe.

Room Tip: The rooms are primarily concepted through colors, hence ask for a color of your choice.

Fantastic hotel, made my whole Amsterdam experience. As soon as you get there you directly understand that this is the best hotel of Amsterdam. Beautiful from the outside, all the way to the inside.
When we arrived, the bellman was extremely nice and also excited to talk about the hotel and show us around the property. The concierge also made recommendations for restaurants, printed and confirmed every one of them.

Room Tip: Worth the upgrade to a junior suite, and extremely pet friendly.

Everything about this hotel was fantastic. We spent nearly three weeks in Europe and this was the best hotel. Excellent service, amenities, people. I can't say enough about this hotel. We had two rooms in a private corridor. It was perfect. We will definitely be back.

We were upgraded to a large suite with 3 balconies and beautiful views of the canals and flower market. The living room was very large, and comfortable. WiFi was fairly fast, and reliable. The bedroom was also large, with a very comfortable king bed, and large bathroom. there was a second bath off the living room. The iPad on the work desk was a nice touch also. The breakfast buffet is nothing special, but it is convenient. Dinner on the terrace was very good. Highly recommend the oyster on half shell, as well as the mussels. Service was brisk and attentive. The concierge was very helpful in arranging advance tickets to museums. If you desire a canal cruise they leave about 75 meters from the front door. Our only serious complaint was the air conditioning. It was unseasonably hot, and the room only cooled down when the windows were opened at night but it was very noisy all night with them open. This is not an inexpensive hotel, so the lack of adequate cooling was disappointing.

Room Tip: Request a room with views of the Amstel and flower market.

We spent 4 nights here in two adjoins rooms (after a paid upgrade - we were able to get it for 1/2 of what the originally asked). The rooms are modern but maintain character, are spacious and very clean. In room espresso machine, large safe (fits a large MacBook Pro easily), heated bathroom floor, nice view of the canal and city and extremely comfortable beds.

The reception staff where efficient and plenty (never had to wait). The concierge was efficient and assisted with museum tickets, restaurant reservations and guiding us to cafes, shops and bike rentals.

For a 5 star hotel, we paid a very reasonable room rate for two large, adjoining rooms on the 4th floor (406 / 408). We would stay here anytime.

The location is ideal with no more than a 20 minute walk to all key districts and museums.

Not many Hotel's like this anywhere.

As to other reviews - we had no 'night visitors' and no signs of the such anywhere in the hotel - it was a perfect stay.

Perfectly situated, grand style and the most beautiful rooms for any city. My family and I had adjacent rooms (after being upgraded). The rooms had a stunning view over the canal and streets.
Dinner on the terrace was beautiful purely for watching people cruise by on their small boats, having drinks and snacks. The food on the terrace was disappointing and not close to the standard of the main restaurant.
If you want to walk everywhere in mid-town Amsterdam, this is where to go.
Use Classic Boat Tours for a private cruise on the canals - a real highlight in a 1906 boat with champagne and all... Loved it!

The De L'Europe is considered one of Amsterdam's premier hotels. It's located within the oldest part of the city, and comprises several buildings that have been subsequently linked together (which is the case with many hotels and institutions in Amsterdam). It's in a quiet location with a big stretch of canal-front of which the terrace and restaurant take full advantage. Most of the places tourists would want to visit are within a 15 - 20 minute scenic walk. (The railway station is about a 5 - 7 minute tram ride - the doorman correctly advised us it was as quick as getting a taxi.)

We had an interior room view, which was small and had a view across a small void to other rooms. The room was reasonably well-furnished, though the TV/DVD was housed on a mobile stand, rather than being wall-mounted. Given the size of the room, using precious floor space in a slightly awkward location (at the entry to the room and bathroom) seemed a little odd. There was ample storage space and a Nespresso machine. A small table was tucked into a corner of the room, but was not really suitable for much other than putting belongings on. As such, sitting somewhere other than the bed was not an option.

There was service at least twice a day, and the room staff, as well as the desk staff, were very polite and helpful. The desk staff quickly pointed out the main tourist sites on the map, as well as indicating more residential areas that may be of interest (e.g. the Nine Streets in Jordaan).

The restaurant serves a buffet breakfast, which was lovely, but steeply priced at 32 euros per person. The hotel has a pool, which is small, and a small gym which was under renovation during our stay.

Overall this is a very good five star hotel, but in future trips I would look around for alternatives in this price range.

Room Tip: Interior view rooms literally look across a void to other interior view rooms. Canal view rooms woul...
