We booked a last minute room at hotel Vondel and were not disappointed. It was overall a very good stay, the staff is nice, the location is pretty central, but not too close to the center, so noise was not an issue. The room was just a bit dated, and there were a bit a stairs going up and down to get to the room, but overall we were happy, and would go back.More

Lovely stay at a great hotel.
Very nice staff, both at reception and in bar/ breakfast area.
I asked for poached eggs - this was no problem, and they were perfect.
Double executive rrom was clean and very comfortable. We also got a bathroom with a bath, as requested.
The atmosphere is very calm and relaxed.
The location was perfect for walking to main destinations, or for catching the tram.
I would stay here again!

First trip to Amsterdam and we definitely made the right choice booking this hotel. The best thing is by far it's location. Very close to the park and museum quarter. About 20 mins walk to attractions such as the Heineken experience and icebar. Everything is pretty much in walking distance. If not, there are modern trams which can get you to different places (although the routes are a little confusing)
Room yes was small, but plenty of room for two people, we found it very cosy and quaint.
Lady on reception even checked us in earlier than check in time, rang through to the maid to check see if our room was ready. Great customer service and always greeted us with a smile when we saw her again. She also gave us plenty on information on different attractions etc.
Can't comment on the bar as we didn't eat or drink there.
As this was a special treat for my partners birthday, they even left us a lovely gesture on the bed, some balloons and a free drink at the bar. Lovely touch!
Please beware, take mozzy spray! One managed to get in the room one evening and bit myself and my partner to death! Not the hotels fault though.
All in all, I would recommend this hotel highly to anyone going to Amsterdam and will definitely return.

We had originally wanted to book at a different hotel we'd stayed at previously but couldn't get the dates we wanted - and I'm so glad that happened!! I booked this place based on the reviews and location - I can't stress how good the location is - and as regular visitors to Amsterdam I'd say this is probably one of the nicest hotels we've stayed in. The staff were so lovely and helpful - we couldn't check in at 3pm as originally advised and they were so apologetic I couldn't get annoyed! The hotel is beautifully decorated, with great attention to detail. Our room was small but perfectly formed with a modern bathroom (brilliant shower). The bar area was lovely and very reasonably priced- great cocktails - and we actually ended up having a few night caps there! As mentioned, the location was excellent, short walking distant to all the great bars in Leidseplein and the museum quarter - and only a 30 minute (brisk) from central station - we will definitely be returning very soon! The location is really good, very close to the Rijksmuseum and Vondel park. Bed perfect, clean and room enough. Very nice stay! neighbourhood quiet and gentle. good option!

It's a very clean hotel.
Soft matrasses to dream away.
We didn't have food there.
Barman was very helpfull and experienced with cocktails.
Rooms were quite big and very comfortable.
Not expensive and still luxurious.
Next time we'll be back.
