The Hotel it self is nicely decorated and tidy, not too far from the main square - 20 min walk or 15 euro taxi ride.

The room on the other hand was tiny and had no window. It consisted of single bed with just about enough room to stand beside, definitely a case of putting profit before service and trying to cram as many rooms in as possible!

Room Tip: Pay extra and get a double room, avoid single rooms at all cost!

Hotel very well located in the center.
Very welcome. Friendly staff.
The double room was a tiny attic. Unable to move for two people.
The duvet cover was torn. The window did not close properly, poor insulation. There was cold wind entered the room. We could hear the TV in the next room.
The bathroom was not clean.
Too expensive for a maid's room!

Stayed in room 26 for two nights. Good location and very helpful front desk. Room was tidy, bed comfortable, but an annoying shelf above your head as you sleep; hit it several times getting up. Corridors had furniture in them which made it difficult to pass at times. Constantly disturbed in early hours because the door locks slam shut, and returning revelers made too much noise (Not the hotels fault). It was annoying that we couldn't make coffee / tea in the room. Coffee only available from the front desk at 2Euro for a v.small cup, that in my case wasn't hot. The toilet / shower was a divider in the room, which was difficult to get to (because of the bed being in the way). The toilets are cramped, but shower works well with plenty of hot water.

Great location, easy access from Centraal station, just hop on the tram (No. 1,2 or 5)
Lovely rooms, with good facilities. Lovely staff. Note for the hotel though, maybe the breakfasts could be better. All in all, great experience.

Despite there's no elevator in the hotel, everything are good enough for a visitor. Especially the location is very close to every scenic spot. It would be my top choice if I visit Amsterdam again. And the receptionist is friendly.

I spent 7 weeks in Amsterdam this fall, a once in a lifetime trip. I stayed at 3 locations. The Quentin England Hotel was my last & best experience. I choose the Garden room, which is an out building in the back patio area. It was completely self contained & simple. I loved it there. I had read some bad reviews from 2006 but I was pleasantly surprised to find a clean room & that the negative issues mentioned had been resolved, the staff & management were great. I checked in for my 18 day stay at the reasonable price of €39 a night. I enjoyed my privacy, a comfortable small covered area outs to smoke ciggs & excellent but not intrusive service from the staff w/a 420 friendly attitude. A kind of don't ask, don't tell thing. The location is just outside the ring & practically in the lovely & inspiring Vondelpark Park. The trams were just a few block away to access the rest of the city. With a grocery store & several restaurants in the surrounding area. I found the area to be a nice place to base from. Thanks Quentin England! I hope I can make it back someday!

Room Tip: I Loved the Garden Room!
