Excellent budget hotel, within easy reach of all main attractions. Number 1 tram close by takes you straight into Amsterdam Central in a matter of minutes. Within walking distance of museum area. I contacted the hotel direct after booking with Barrhead Travel and made some requests which the hotel accommodated. Staff very friendly and helpful. This is a hotel I would use again!

Room Tip: I requested one of the renovated rooms and to the rear of the hotel overlooking the garden as you ca...

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Hotel Europa. We were part of a group of 11 friends. Our room 102 was small and a bit grubby. The bathroom had seen better days and my knees touched the wall when sitting on the loo (and I'm only 5' 8). It was very noisy due to the close proximity to the road. The staff were very helpful and informative. Free Wifi is provided. Overall it's a basic hotel with average amenities.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

A smallish room, although we did have 3 people in it. The water was a bit of a problem to start with but before we could complain they fixed the tap. 3 nights, two clean beds and clean towels every day. Hotel staff were incredibly helpful and lovely. Nice big window for when the room got cosily hot.
Lovely garden space, good sized hotel bar. Good selection of continental breakfast foods.
Really recommend for an inexpensive break.

Room Tip: If you don't mind a bit of noise a room overlooking the road is fine.

I stayed at the hotel while competing in the marathon and would really recommend it. The staff were so much more helpful than at posher hotels and let me use their microwave to prepare my porridge for race. They couldn't have been more helpful generally. Great central location too, right next to Vondelpark. The room was much more spacious than picture showed as well - really pleased and thoroughly recommended.

I stayed here for 4 nights, the main reason for this choice was location ... and i wasn't disappointed. We walked every day trough Amsterdam and it was very easy to reach most of the attractions. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms were nice, not too good, not too bad. I would recommend this hotel for a city break and i would come back here.

The location is pretty good, the staff is ok, wifi wasn't fast, but acceptable too. The rooms are small, but well, that's Europe, we didn't expect much as the hotel is quite cheap anyway.
However it's much more than it deserves: when we arrived, the lamp near the door didn't work; the shower handle was almost broken and could harm the hands... add here the sound of water drops in the night; the street (trams in particular) is very noisy too.

The next day was even better - there was no hot water in the evening and the next morning too! We were told the boiler stopped working and everything can be fixed in 30mins, but we had to leave already. Ok, the things happen. Guess how the next morning started - we checked the water, and again, it was cold!

What did we pay for?

I traveled here alone for a 2 week stay, and had a wonderful stay. I arrived to find that my reservation was not found due to booking through orbitz, but the wonderful staff was able to upgrade me to a double for the same fee as a single due to my troubles. Loved the staff and the hotel itself. I am eager to return for another delightful stay. The courtyard has parrots that hang about, and a delightful mural, very relaxing, an odd hotel all in all, but why stay in a cookie cutter hotel if you are looking for a true dutch experience.
